You would need a smith with a cnc to do the engraveing or you could get a set of stamps fro leevalley or princessauto and do it yourself.

Um.

Check with the CFC prior to removing the maker's information. I'm not 100% sure of the legality of your plan amigo.

Get permission (in writing) first for what you plan to do. Keep a copy of said written permission with the firearm when you transport/use it.

If they will not give you written permission to action your plan, DON'T DO IT.

From the Canada Gazette:
TAMPERING WITH MARKINGS

5. (1) No person shall knowingly remove, alter, obliterate or deface a marking on a firearm.

(2) Subsection (1) does not apply to a public agent acting in the course of their duties or for the purposes of their employment.

COMING INTO FORCE

6. These Regulations come into force on April 1, 2006.

Note that it only says you can't deface a marking...it says nothing about adding markings.
These type of projects are where Dlask receivers come in handy...their markings are on the right side, leaving a clean slate to work with on the left.

I "think" those regs came in after a number of us had those Diemaco clones made
Then the requirement was to keep the ser# on the firearm.

I would agree that the Dlask right side engraved lowers are the best for clone work...

damm always somthing to prevent us from haveing any fun!

well i guess ill have to go the dlask route next time i buy a lower

Thanks guys

I know a guy in the US who has the "Peace through superior firepower" engraved. This site may give you some other ideas :)

The section I quoted was part of the regulations with regards to import markings. In order to comply with some of the international treaties Canada signed on to, the regulations detailed what markings had to be added to firearms either imported or produced in Canada. Then as a followup it made it an offense to remove any markings on a firearm.
The thought behind this was that the markings were to assist following/tracing guns that were left behind in crimes/conflicts.

It was much bigger than the Diemaco clones. Those raised some eyebrows in Ottawa, but were hardly enough to cause special regulations to be made.

Do any suppliers sell lowers with only the serial number on it?
Do any suppliers engrave for you? Probably only for large lots, eh?

Dlask will do some custom engraving. They did the CGN run a number of years back. Engraving another manufacturers markings may not be exactly kosher however.

look for a friendly trophy shop that has laser equipment, they can do the job

Good luck getting an ATT to bring your restricted lower to a trophy shop. However, there are gunsmiths who do engraving of both the old fashioned kind and the laser.

No they can't ,the restricted firearm must be transported to a liscensed business, unless your local engraver has a firearms business lisc. you cannot.

I was thinking just that Reaper....curious now though, is there a reg dealing with getting a trophy shop to work on non-restricted?

I cant see why not for non restricted you make arrangements with the shop you bring non restricted in they engrave while you watch you pay you leave gun is under your care whole time

Exactly ,with non restricted there is no problem,as long as you remain with the firearm the whole time.

As long as the person you give it to has a PAL, no need to stand around. You can "lend" it to him for the time it takes to do the work.

Is this in the Fire Arms Act, do you have a link. First I have heard of it?
