I'll be purchasing a .22LR upper and will require a lower: it doesn't need to be the highest quality, but I'm not necessarily looking for the cheapest solution.
What are my options, oh wise men of the black rifles?
Stag.
If you want a milspec lower. Good quality from everything I've read (I don't have one yet).
Rock River arms, is probably the best bang for the buck right now in a non milspec, especially if it already has the match trigger installed. Good quality as well.
For me I think it would be the Stag. There's others out there that are really good too, but in terms of cost/performance ratio. Stag seems to get the nod.
By the way I was looking at a lower for the same reasons .
I'm thinking Stag Model 6. I'll just use the lower which already has a match trigger. Swap out between the target upper and the .22.
Best of both worlds for me. But... I'd want the Model 6 anyways.
For just a lower. Tough choice. RRA or Stag. In terms of availability, quality and price those seem to be the two contenders.
Stripped lowers are just over two hundred. Believe that Questar has or had some DPMS lowers for $199.
So ya, looking around $300-500 after installing lower parts and stock of your choice, easy to get carried away. Hell, some match triggers will cost you more than the lower.
Who sells .22LR uppers in Canada? And as far as mags go A) Can they be found in .22LR for the AR
B) Since it's rimfire, you can have high-capacity, but I don't know any places that carry them.

The reality is the Stag has a milspec stock assembly. So if you want a mispec lower because say for instance you ordered a milspec Magpul CTR stock then you would need this.
Rock river arms, DPMS etc have the "comercial" specs.
There's the difference to me. Since I just happen to have a milspec CTR it matters, and it's a lot easier to type "milspec" than the entire thing.
Arms East also sells Stag and you can get just the lower. Questar may be brining in some RRA lowers specifically to go with that .22 upper. Another option to think about. Considering the .22 upper won't be in till June at the earliest. You have some time
I have seen that particular chart, and I have further seen those that know more real experience then I, bring to light the defficiancies of and inadequacies of it.
I am not trying to pick a fight here, however, I think most would agree the internet is a big place full of infomrmation, with not all of it being accuarte or first hand.
