AR15 not ejecting casings

I recently purchased a used Armalite ar15 with a 14.5 inch barrel. Took it to the range for the first time and started shooting. At first the it fired fine for the first 75 to 100 rounds, with the exception of a couple of issues with the bolt not locking back on an empty mag. I figured it was because of the rivets on the pmags. After letting it cool down for a bit I started shooting again, and the bolt would stop midway after firing, leaving the fired casing on the bolt face. It did that on for every mag I used. I would pull the charging handle and it would eject and feed just fine, but locked up only when firing. What kind of problem might this be?
 
Try cleaning it up a bit. Lube it, and see what happens. Sounds like your running it fairly dry and you may have a ejector issue or maybe even your gas system. I can't say I know what happend, but you can do some general trouble shooting yourself beginning with a solid cleaning, dis-assemble the bolt clean all the bits and pieces, check all your springs and pins etc. Just make sure it's all in working order and clean. Try it out again once completed, if you still have issue's maybe someone here can offer you more in depth advice or drag it into your local shop and have them take a look at it, they usually don't charge unless they have to do something "major", or just charge you for the replacement part if required, within my experience anyhow. What ammo were you shooting? Try a different brand like something hotter ie Norc or S&B maybe? Does the rifle charge easily or does it feel gritty or stiff when you pull back on the charging handle?

Did you do a breakdown/clean of the rifle after you got it/before your range session? Check the gas block to make sure it's not loose. Clean the gas tube with a tube cleaner or run out to the local art supply shop and buy some of that wire art thingy that look like a bottle brush to clean it. Remove the bolt, clean out the upper and BCG and relube. Check the buffer retainer pin to see if it is loose and possibly catching the bolt in which case your buffer tube was not installed correctly and will need to be adjusted.

In addition to the above, check that your gas key is not obstructed. Similar thing happened to me once due to a lose primer...

Bolt catch issue? Running a BAD lever?

If you chamber the round and remove mag, does it still jam?

Gas key could be dirty if not the whole bcg
 
As a first step, i'd make sure there aren't any squirrels or mice or any other small animals stuck in the BCG.
Also check for honey, peanut butter, or any other gooey/sticky stuff that could have dried up in there.

yah I don't know what i'm talking about. Time to get off the interwebz.
 
Buy a center punch and restake after you torque it down. Sucks to have that happen on a brand new rifle.
