I am not turning up many reviews or opinions from owners on this optic. Do any of you run this optic and how has it been for you? I will be using it on a 14.5" AR. I also own a specterDR 1-4 and a 4x acog on other rifles so how does it compare?

I run this optic for SR and CQB. I really like it for those applications. It can be limiting for stuff like 3 gun and other sports where you are up really close and have to transition to different targets. I would prefer an RDS for that application. There is enough elevation in the dial though, to give me a 10 yd zero when adjusting up from the 100 yard zero starting point.

What type of shooting are you thinking of doing with it?

The glass is great, very clean and no color distortion or edge distortion that I have noticed. The reticule is bold which I like and the illumination good but I never use it.
Adjustments are repeatable and the BDC on the elevation dial matches up very will with 62 gn 5.56 ammo. I like that I can then tweak the elevation in 1/2 MOA increments to account for atmospheric variations.
My particular scope has positive and audible clicks on elevation. Windage not so much, the clicks are pretty soft and hard to feel. Still usable but I would like them to be more positive. Not sure if this is just mine or if they are all like this. My scope is the only one I've ever seen in use personally.

The zero stop works well but it would be nice if it could be rotated a few clicks below 'zero' to account for different ammo. My POI between 62 Gn factory and 69Gn handloads is significant.

The thing is tough. I accidentally did a 1m drop test onto concrete. No problem, the scope kept on ticking. I have not tested to see how well it returns to zero after it is removed and replaced so I can't comment on that.

I would recommend contacting Armament Technology in Halifax and seeing if you can get a rubber bumper for the left side. Might as well protect it as much as possible.

I haven't used an ACOG or or DR1-4 very much so I can't really compare.

^ Thanks that is some good info. Most of my shooting is 50 to 100m. I really want a Cqb setup but my awful astigmatism limits red dot use

I now use contact lens ( for astigmatism ) to correct that problem. I finished in 8th position in the Queen's medal match this year. ;)

IT works! I Also use Eotech with no issues.

Cheers.

Bolivar, what is the eye relief like?

I got away from the C79 sight because I couldn't force my skull an inch into the rear sight.
Is this pretty similar to the C79 M145 sights?

8th place is pretty damn good! even with my prescription shooting glasses i still get a starburst or blurry dot with aimpoints and eotechs and is the only reason i no longer have either. is there a red dot in the center of the OS3's reticule similar to the specterDR's?

I am also interested in this as it is my biggest complaint with acogs

Wait for it.......rubber picarinny rails. :)

Basically bumpers but for some reason they cut them in a picatinny profile. I've never tried mounting anything to them.

Elcan describes them as bumper so that must be their true intent. To me it would have been logical to make the top one from aluminum so you could mount a micro dot if you were so inclined.
