Looking for some suggestions for optics ie.. scopes (1-4x) or red dots that don't cost $600+. As of this moment EOTech, Aimpoint, and the S&B are out of my price range. Seems optics and mounts are getting close or above $1k.

I really like my Leupold 2.5X20mm ultra light. I'd imagine it would be great on an AR.

Good optics aren't cheap. the 1k mark is pretty standard for the name brand stuff. You get what you pay for and a lot of the lower dollar stuff isn't ideal for AR's. The real question is what are you planning to use it for?

I was thinking of spending the money on a eotech but the recent issues with warranty work if needed kind of scares me off a $500+ product.

The 1.5x5 SIR from Falcon looks intriguing for a low dollar item??

Irons are a good, solid bet.
You can buy an eotech 512 for $400-500.
A gently used elcan should run $600-750.

Don't waste your money on a clone - they definately won't last.

Guess i'll stick with my LMT buis for now. I had an Eotech on my shorty but didn't really like it. Wanted a nice 1-4x that wouldn't cost an arm and leg.

any more info on Falcon scopes? what mount / rings do you guys use?

Falcon is in the middle of redesigning the 1.5-5x30SIR. They won't be available until after April. They are putting a new reticle in it and lengthening the eye relief. The internal parts and turrets will be all new as well. Should be really nice when it is done.

I was just looking at the new 1-4x24mm Bushnell Trophy ($185) with an illuminated reticle the other day and think it would work pretty good on a range toy.

I found a new set of Bushnell Holosight for $245 but dunno if i want to mount it on this AR. 3gun is out to 300 yards and i don't think the Holosight is sufficient.

Hm....I was also recommended Falcon and Millet scopes.....
