I was wondering if there are ranges near ottawa where i can bring an AR 15 rifle. I dont think EOHC permits there use there? What about other clubs near by?
Thanks

nope not yet... I'm just trying to figure out where i can shoot it before i order one... lol
Its a lot of money to spend if i cant use it regularly

EOHC is a great place to shoot restricted rifles (and pistols). Yearly membership fees are very resonable and you can shoot any day of the year, seven days a week, from 9:00am to dusk. The only restriction is that no centerfire rifles are allowed after 6pm (due to noise issues) but pistols and rimfires are OK until 8pm. Very relaxed atmosphere.

Try Grenville Fish and Game, just outside of Prescott. Membership is reasonable, 100yd, 25/50yd, and 25yd, skeet, trap, and another 100yd will be built in the coming year. They do it all there!

DCRA shoots on the military ranges at Connaught which are some of the nicest gallery ranges in the world. Charlie left and right are 78 lanes wide and go back to 900m, there are a few more 300m ranges and a sub 100m multi bay range complex. They put on service rifle shoots that go back to 500m and really challenge shooters. Look around the service rifle forum and if you are interested in seeing what you and your rifle can do contact Hungry.

When I was talking to one of the guys behind the desk at stittsville, he said you need to be a member in order to bring restricteds. Then again he might have just been refering to the ATT part of it.

You might be able to get a STATT to take it out there occasionally.

To take restricted firearms to Stittsville you need to be a member there.

AR shooting Ottawa Area

Hi,

in addition to Stittsville Range and EOHC there is also -

http://www.ncrra.com/index.php

the above link is the home club at CRPTC. They have a service rifle program, check it out.

http://www.ontariorifleassociation.org/

I would highly suggest looking into the events hosted by the ORA (Ontario Rifle Association) that happen throughout the shooting season at CRPTC. Also if you don't mind the drive to CFB Borden - there is also additional events host there by the ORA.

Also look at the above link for the Operational Shooting Association. They have events throughout the shooting season.

So there are plenty of places and opportunities to shoot an AR. Hope this helps.

Cheers

If your not a member of that range don't bring a restricted! ATT or not.

Not what I was told when I asked the range Nazi. He said you can visit with anything, as long as the legal requirements are met. I specifically asked about pistols too, and he said that is fine too. As he is the one outside yelling at people, and he is the one who will send you home if you break the rules, I'd say he's right and whomever was asked inside is just covering their arse.

i know this thread is sorta old (Oct 2010), but i should point out that NCRRA / Connaught is NOT available to you if you're not a member, since your regular-club ATT will NOT permit you to take it to a FEDERAL range. you can take it to other clubs if you already have an ATT (unless the club itself says no), but as far as Connaught is concerned the CFO is the one saying "nope, sorry".

this is why if you're in ottawa, you should get our ATT via membership at Connaught, since then that lets you take your gear anywhere - Federal and Private ranges. an ATT from a private range is for private only. plus you can shoot your AR-15 at the 100-900m rifle ranges as well as on the 25m pistol range (but NOT on the 50m pistol range). so you can do some short-distance stuff too - as close as 5m if you so desire.
