Ar15 questions!

I finally just purchased my first AR style rifle and I had a few questions first of all the barrel the rifle comes with is not threaded and I would like to thread the barrel, so I'm wondering does anyone know how much threading usually costs? Secondly I am wanting to get some mags (preferably lar mags) where would be the best place to acquire those.

Many sponsors on CGN sell the LAR15 magazines, just look around for those.

For barrel threading, a gunsmith in your area should be able to do it. No clue on the price but I have read 40-60$ somewhere in a thread

ATR pistol mags are a much better idea than LAR mags - they're a bit longer, so mag changes are easier and they fit pouches better - they look better too.

I was talking to a bud and there is a place here but apparently it took 6 months to fix his 870 so I don't know about that ha. As far as the mags go I do like the look of those ATR ones I guess it really just comes down to which ever one feeds better!

Beowulf mags = more shooting and less reloading !

Got a quote from my place in town and it looks like it'll cost 140 starting to wonder if it may be more worth my while to get a new barrel as the one it comes with is rather long

Barrel will run you anywhere from 100-700 depending on the brand and quality. Daniel defense makes a nice barrel for around 3-400.

I'll second this. Love them! They function much better than the Metal LAR mags I had also.

An alternative to threading or rebarreling... might be more cost-effective to sell your upper, and buy another from the EE to replace it. Usually lots of uppers for sale on there.

There are still uppers floating around in the "post-ban" configuration due to the old American "assault weapons ban". Many of them don't have bayonet lugs, either.

Wouldn't it be more cost effective to buy a 2 or 3 hundred dollar barrel or would a whole new upper be the way to go because I usually see them average for around 5 or 6 hundred most times alot more. I mean if I had all the monies I'd buy one of the colt diemaco ones that I've seen kicking around hehe.
