I am interested in a 7.62 x 39 upper for my regular ar 15 lower. Can anybody recommend one for me and suggest a place to get 1.

Thanks!

Hard to beat 21 cents a round tax included ;)

Do you really want to be doing the soap and water scrub on an AR? I like not having to clean my rifle before I put it away.
You'll never catch me running corrosive ammo through any of my guns, I won't even shoot non corrosive Norinco 5.56. I like my rifles and won't risk their longevity just to save a couple cents per shot. When someone wants to try one of my rifles and volunteers to supply ammo my reply is always "sure as long as it isn't Norinco or MFS".
I'm another that went the 300 Blackout way and will never look back. Plus I can reload pretty cheap and I doubt there is a 7.62x39 out there that can make groups like my 9.75 inch barreled 300 Blackout can.

Farmboy has it right, if you're going to do it at least do it right and get a rifle that has a dedicated lower to use AK mags. Most people don't realize it because at 5 rounds it doesn't affect function as much but the 7.62x39 round feeds like crap from the AR mag. The tapered case of the x39 needs the banana shape to feed reliably. Try loading 10 into an AR mag body and you'll know what I mean, sometimes you're lucky and they feed and sometimes they don't.
If they did feed reliably do you think any company would have spent the time and money developing a lower to take AK mags?

Still way shorter time than cleaning, decapping, resizing and reloading 100 rounds of ammo. It takes about the same of amount of time to clean the rifle whether I shoot 50 rounds or 500 rounds. Ever since I bought a big bottle of Gunzilla off Farmboy awhile back I haven't use soup and water on any of my rifles, one squirt down each end of my barrel after shooting and I clean it just like any other rifle.

For a long time I wanted a 762x39 AR upper. Then I got a 300 Blackout upper and all is right in the world. :D

I know you love .300blk , I did too until I ran out of the cheap Remington .300blk ammo . Now .300blk sucks!

Will that work on my muzzle loader? Sounds much better than what I have to do now.

What about the gas system on your rifle shooting corrosive? Just spray it with the same stuff?

No, it still kicks @ss, now you just have to pick up your brass and reload it :)

Don't lose faith brother, I was told by one of my local retailers that we should start seeing bulk 300BLK in Canada this summer. Should make it a lot cheaper to shoot for those that don't want to reload.

I believe the request for a lower that took AK mags had more to do with end user requirements rather than not getting a 7.62x39AR mag to work.

Once you modify the C products or ASC mags they work fine. If ASC would just get on board with improving the mags from the factory these guys wouldn't have as many issues.

As Suputin(?) mentioned in another thread a couple weeks ago, the extractors wear out quickly. This seems to stem from a combination of steel cased ammo and lower end parts that are available for x39 builds. Would be nice if someone could come out with an enhanced extractor, perhaps made of a stronger metal.

They work fine with 5 rounds and marginally with 10 rounds. I've read many reports of jamming and poor performance from guys in the US though. The taper of the cartridge needs a mag with more curvature to work reliably. Not a big deal for us in Canada but if the mag restrictions ever get lifted here it will become an issue.

The 30 round mags are curved. I've trained with full cap x39 AR mags in the US with zero issues.
