AR15 - which is the best?

4) Pressure tested barrels. I would think this speaks for itself.

Actually no it doesn't, unless we know what pressure test they use. The CIP pressure test I think is outdated and rather silly, the only reason it still exists is because the Proof Houses make so much money out of testing every gun.

Testing of a representative sample I think would be a better idea than a semi-destructive test on every barrel.

Stag is the least expensive and the closest to milspec for the buck. No question they are probably the best deal on the market in Canada thanks to dangertree.

I'm lovin mine.

Okay keep in mind that Colt is the one that follows the TDP most closely -- and for a high round count gun you will appreciate that.

Sparrow, who is one of the most active shooting civilians in Canada that I know has gone back to Colt -- why -- well when you shoot 10-20k of round a year thru your gun you will notice that Colt will give you the best value for your buck.

Ray will admit doing the BM (and other) thing for a bit -- but he has adamately switch back to Colt

Larry Vickers (noted Delta MSG and assisted in the design of the S&B Short Dot, Hk 416/7 and Hk45, as well as being a noted 1911 smith ) will say the same thing about notes he has from course with AR's and Colts

Pat Rogers (noted USMC Force Recon guru - turned NYPD ESU stud and now training guy for civilains and Tier1 guys alike) will mention Colt is all he can recommend.

I have pretty much all the guns under the sun - either in Canada, the US, or Iraq (and I still have some guns in Afghan if I ever go back there).
Colt is my first choice.
I will use LMT and KAC and some build guns by known guys (in the US - Denny, Wes/MSTN, and GrantT/G&R) with name brand parts.

In Canada with the 5rd mag limit and the fact that most shooters - save serious servce rifle shooters dont shoot that many rounds - the ABC rifles and LMT and Stag will in all likelyhood serve you very well...

But take it to the US for a course where you fire 1k of rounds a day...
well maybe the tolerances and the inspections of the TDP will serve you better.

S&W 15, 15A & 15T all use LMT BCG's (now). The majority of their parts are CMT. Because their BCG's are superior to Stag's (IMHO), this makes them a more reliable AR and should be viewed as on up on Stag.

Correct me if I"m wrong, but isn't STAG ARMS a subsidiary of CMT? AFAIK STAG is essentially providing all major parts to S&W for assembly into their M&P 15 Series rifles.

I hadn't heard that S&W has now switched over to an LMT bolt carrier group though. When did this happen? In "real world terms" just how much better is the LMT BCG compared to STAG?
