Ar180b? Clone ? Buy used ?

So I know that I can get the wk 180c and be perfectly happy with it but I like weird stuff and old stuff so I’m wondering has anyone taken a gen 1 or gen 2 wk180c and fitted original or copy’s of at 180b furniture to it to make it look vintage? Additionally about how much would an original ar180b run me? Any information is appreciated
 
The original lowers were a non metal mix.
So long as you didn't use the rifle to help boost a friend to step over an obstacle or repeatedly drop it open on the hinge in, it is ok.

I am sure you could find the original stock and forearm but the question would be, why?
 
Original AR180s are a bit pricey. Seen a few go for nearly $3k before May 18th.

Neat rifles like others have said the front hinge pin is a weak point but there are metal reinforcing tabs you can get from stormwerkz.

As for fitment, WK180 Gen1 uppers should fit no problem, Gen2's & MCR's likely won't due to their different lockup point.

Saw one go at auction a few months ago for (IIRC) $3400 (plus 15% premium and then taxes as well). I think TNA just listed one for nearly $4k. Always wanted one but I'd probably buy something else at those prices.

The main reason the front hinge pin area broke is because when people took the rear pin out they let the metal upper flop down against the synthetic lower and all the stress was on the synthetic pivot point. Don't let the upper flop down & contact the lower and things are fine (but repair kits are available).

I had a 180b with a polymer lower around 2010ish and despite all the opinions of people saying it would only break if you abused the rifle I had a different experience. I knew the hinge was a weak point and went to great lengths to protect it, including laying it down on a table and carefully breaking it open to clean it. Despite my precautions after a full day at the range and several hundred rounds through it, lo and behold one side of the pivot was cracked. I contacted the seller (wolverine supplies) and they made it good but it soured me on the whole AR180B polymer lower to this day. If Armalite had of made the lower from stamped steel like they did the upper it would be on my Never Sell list. Obviously other people’s experiences may vary, this was just mine.

I followed the exact same precautions and had the exact same experience.

This was the exact same reason I sold mine, I had no faith in the polymer lower. If the lower was metal it would have been my go to rifle
 
The original AR180b is a pile of garbage. I owned one 15+ years ago and it was a complete POS that is worth about $750 bucks. Anyone paying $4000 for that rifle is a complete moron.

Too hard to find original 180B furniture in Canada so I went a different route ;)

I also had one. It was decent in the early 2000’s when we didn’t have many other NR options. The upper and lower wobble, the pressed action looks like something Norinco wld have pushed out and the trigger was pretty heavy - even for a battle rifle…

A CZ Bren or a Tavor wld be far superior in every area unless you really are a true collector. 3 MOA as well…
