I have one and find it very loud. It feels that report come straight back at the shooter. It has 6 or 8 threaded holes in the end on the top. I was wondering if plugging the holes would help? I have seen flash hiders and muzzle brakes online. Would they help?

It's hard to tell from your post, but does it look like this one? If so, it's permanent. To install a new one you would have to cut it off and thread the muzzle, if there is enough barrel to work with. Make sure you measure carefully before you cut so that you don't end up with a prohibited device. Plugging it is not an option in my opinion.

It could be sleeved with a machined piece fit for interference or perhaps a split sleeve/collar with some sort of clamping mechanism. Will likely be ugly either way.

Or just sell it to me ;)

The holes are not threaded.

Any muzzle brake will make the rifle sound louder as it dirrects more sound sideways. It isn't louder but sounds louder to the shooter.

As pointed out, the factory brake is integral with the barrel.
I suppose it could be turned down, and a sleeve installed. Wouldn't particularly change the appearance.

The barrel length is technically 18.25 inches. That is the length of the rifled portion.

It is possible to thread the barrel, but one must be conscious of the fact the rifled portion is below the legal limit. You have to leave at least 1/4" of the muzzle brake intake to maintain the legal length.

Because the factory brake is machined into the barrel, it qualifies as part of the barrel length for legal purposes. If any part of the brake were to be cut off, the distance from the boltface to the new muzzle face must exceed 18.5".
Personally, I'd leave it alone, brakes are worthwhile.

Yeah I have the same one in the pic form clobbersauras. Well I might just keep it the stock way or take it to a smith.

Thanks for all your help guys.
