Want to get a AR180B & scope it.
Can't decide on the Armalite mnt (new one that Wolverine sells )
bolts to receiver, but whats the bolt that goes from it to the rear sight?

Or the stock Armalite

or the Stormwerkz.

Looks like both the Armalite & Stormwerkz mnts , mount to the triangle base on the receiver. I've read that this base breaks off easily & thats why I think the new bolt on mount may be better.

Also looking at the stock adaptor for the CAR butt stock. Anyone carry the adaptors in Canada, or just order one form the US?

There is no option or choice. Buying anything other than the Storm Werkz rail is wasting money. Accept no substitute for quality parts.

I am not employed by Storm Werkz nor do I accept money for my endorsements (I think I should). I am just a very, very satisfied customer.

Wouldn't use the standard mounting plate on the top of the rifle for anything unless it's reinforced some how. They tend to break off.

'Nothing against Wolverine... they're a top notch outfit, but the mount they sell is in my opinion is crap. I bought one and it now serves as an ugly paperweight.
The turn-bolt tightening system is bad... the set screw against the turn-bolt is worse and the four set screws that are suppsed to be tightened against the stamped sheet metal upper are just.... well, y'know.
The Stormwerks mount is 100% superior and its $100 less expensive.

I've always though the Wolverine one was ulgy as sin anyway. The stock armalite on is all I'll ever need. But then again, my mounting plate is reinforced too.

Thanks, only seeing pics, I thought the new Wolverine bolted through?
Set screws just don't do it.
Then the stormwerkz one would be better.
I would like to maybe remove the stock AR base & bolt a rail to the upper? Anyone done this?

Anyone done this?
Yes, I did before the Storm Werks rail was available. There were issues with the mouting plate welds breaking on some rifle, the mounting plate being crooked, and/or loose. I removed mine (with a screw driver, it popped right off!) and had a peice of picitinny rail drilled and screwed to the upper. 6 screws hold it down, never come loose.

Be sure to have a gunsmith mount it so it is lined up with the barrel! The barrels have been known to be crooked compared the the reciever.

Thanks for reply.
My local gunsmith (Del Selin) said it would be easy.
I just would like a steel rail that is thick enough, but not high enough to affect the open sights.

Unless you have a very early 180B you wont have a problem with the mounting plate, that was delt with early on by Armalite. I have sold hundreds of my mounts worldwide and have yet to have a customer tell me of a problem with the plate coming loose.
my 2 cents.

Thanks Stormwerkz, I'm geeting one of the latest batch of AR180B's a local buddy just got his mount from you & loves it, looks like it's the way to go. May have to order the stock adaptor as well, looking to get the green or tan 4 position stock & pistol grip & I guess paint the forearm. Too bad the old triangle forearm didn't fit (& came in color).

Josh, now all you have to do is develope a pistol grip conversion for the M14;) I keep trying.. and ACE doesn't have one. Give it a go.

I am trying to keep up with Bryce on my 180B, no joy! Thanks for your products and great prices............Al

I'm still trying to build a sheet metal lower. I didn't know it would be so hard to find a machine shop to do work for me.
Why do you think I started my own company? Most shops either don't have the time or think you are doing something illegal

Tell me about it.

I'd probably be further ahead to have you do the work but I'm sure you're too busy. It looks like I'm just going to have to wait until I've got access to my own equipment.

yep, right now time is the problem, I just built my first Romanian AK-47 on sunday, looks like I will be building alot of these. :D

is there any reason NOT to get the longer 5 3/4" Storm Werkz scope mount?
Nope.

As an update, I hope to start work on a billet AR180B lower. After that, a billet upper that takes AR15 barrels. I hope I can get it done in a year (using school resources).

I was not impressed with the sight mounting plate on my 180B, it was on crooked, so I knocked it off (and found that the receiver metal underneath it is not coated or blued, just bare metal). I had a 6" piece of Picatinny rail mounted by drilling and tapping a few holes - my 'smith went through the rail from the underside of the top receiver. Its cleaner looking than the add-on rails and is dead centre to the bore.

I am useing bryce to do my thinking he gives me idea`s and i do them like the launcher mount :)

50% complete on my aluminium lower for the 180b

when done I am going to cnc a bunch up for a few people :dancingbanana:
