Hoping an AR180B owner(s) can shed some light on how strong this pivot pin hinge fix from stormwerks is and whether it creates any issues after long term high round count use.

Does it last or cause further cracks in the polymer lower?

Any first had experience is much appreciated.

Marc

I have had a 180 since they came available and from what I have seen and read and doing most of all my own gunsmithing I would have no issues and am even thinking of doing it proactive in case I break mine one day. I have fixed and modified many similar materials with heavy duty epoxies alone with great success where loads, pressure, and heat where present and would probably try this first before ordering the storm works kit. I know this wasn't the answer you where looking for but I hope it helps---Dieseldog!

Do you own one that's broken?
I'm not worried about mine breaking but I have considered ordering the repair kit just to have it in case they stop making them one day.
The chances of breaking your receiver are pretty slim as long as you don't abuse the rifle by opening it and letting the upper swing open and slam against the lower or use the rifle as a pry-bar.

Thanks all.

I am considering buying one that is already broken. Just want to make sure the stormwekz pivot / hinge fix actually lasts.

Josh at stormwerks is pretty good to deal with and knows his products.
He is also easy to deal with us in Canada.

Any questions, don't hesitate to ask him.

I have the stormwerkz quick detach scope rail and the quality and workmanship are excellent, I can't imagine anything else they make being crap.
They have pics of it installed on a rifle on their site and it looks like it would make for a solid repair.

Be sure to post pics if you buy it and complete the repair. If the price was right I'd buy a broken one.

My 180 I got it broken and ordered the replacement hinge, it installed easy enough but I got the measurement off and the hinge is not quit in the correct position had/have a but of a feed problem now, Also when I was looking into the failed hinge there was a guy in California that look into the failure and he blamed the soft lower but the damage was being done by the force of the forward action of the bolt springs not the user. I am looking for another AR180B if anyone knows of one. Shawn

Theres one on EE now.

Did you see what it is selling for! I know some people will pay it cause they think it a AR style rifle but come on! When I got the 180 bug I found a nib ordered the quad rail put it together and sold it. If it had a better built lower I may still own it but not into a rifle I'm scared to use cause it may break on me. Forget it. Oh by the way, I sold mine for a G note about three years ago.

Used mine in numerous 3 gun matches and I take it out to shoot yotes in winter, Iam not worried in the slightest about it breaking, just as mentioned before don't let the upper slam against the lower when you take it apart, if you don't do that your not going to have any issues. I want to buy an original 180b scope mount if anyone has any leads

Yes and its sold.

And it sold very quickly with 5 buyers behind the first contact. . .who cares what you sold it for 3 years ago, try to get one today! And the quad rails are discontinued and midwest has none left. So you will find exactly none brand new.
