Hey CGN'ers,

Recently picked up the Archangel 556R for my old 10/22 (late 80's model I believe) and so far its good. Very solid feeling construction and nice ergo feel. Couple issues; 1.) The nylon set screws in the stock stripped immediately, I made sure not to force them, still went right away =useless 2.) The screws that seat into polymer have me iffy. Specifically the one up front that connects the top rail to the forward handrail almost instantly had issues going in and cross threaded the first fifth of the seating depth. The rest goes in solid and straight granted that I guide it but it has me asking questions as to how reliable this system will be over time.

Looking for thoughts, feedback, reviews etc.

Thanks,

Rock Out

I had one a while ago. The quality seemed OK but I often worried about stripping the screws so didn't disassemble it too often. It seemed like a pretty decent piece of kit nice lightweight. In the and I really didn't like the dress up pretend AR 15 style so sold it and broke even so I was happy in the end. I've tried just about every aftermarket tacticool stock that's out there and I've discovered I like modifying the factory wood stocks the best.
From the sounds of yours you're answering your own question.

are you talking about the 4 screws that are on top of the receiver or the ones that clamp the top and bottom together

The two larger top screws that mate the top cover to the lower receiver. The screw heads are going into polymer threads and that is of concern when I can already see some damage to the first threads. I'm concerned about how many cleanings, where I'm breaking the gun down, it will take before the threads totally fail.
