Far, far more important is the bore condition. Stocks can be easily "prettied up" if that's important to you, but unless a bore is excellent (bright with sharp lands and no pitting), I always pass unless it's a scarce collector - and yours isn't.
I bought one for $109 that looks minty compared to that. I've also seen ones with cracks, bubbles and flaking shellac, oil soaked wood (bad), ill fitting wood, etc, etc. Roll of the dice![]()
