Are .223 Rifles With Red Dots That Have a 50M Zero also Zero'd @ 200M?

Given that this is the black rifle forum, I choose to leave the bolt guns with the scope out of the equation. :)

Standard sight height on an AR is 2.5" with the carry handle if I'm not mistaken. EOtech, not sure....aimpoints can vary depending on the mount.

Infiltrator! Send the Fudd out!

I'm cool, I was just running the numbers I know.
So if an AR bore to LOS is about 2.5", that would explain why the first cross is farther out, around 50Y.

Wow. I thought this was common knowledge from about ten years ago.

Try over a hundred years I would think. Ever since rifled long range rifles have been in use.

I read an interesting article recently on line where there is call in the US military to adopt the 50 / 200 yard zero as standard. The current 25/300 yard does not work so hot at intermediate distances. Everything hits too high.

25 meters = a 300 meter ZERO also.

this is what i zeroed at for my irons, im a bit high at 100 whitch you should be, havnt dont anything past that yet but so far it seems to be legit. i personally though 50 was a lil far for this sorta of excercise but....who know.

This is because the 14.5 inch barrel dosn't offer the same bullet trajectory as the fulll length M16. A 25 meter zero for a 14.5 barrel is more like a 300 meter zero. While the full length 20 inch barrel the 25 meter zero is more like a 350 meter zero. Although with in 200 meters the 10 to 20 inch barreled 223 rounds have very similar poi.
