i want to get an ak, but i never see any posted for sale on here. are they legal in canada? if so, where can i get one?

i believe ak's and all of thier varients are deemed as prohibited here if i read the OIC correctly but you can own a de-activated one

AK's are prohib.

If you don't have a prohib class firearm now, you will never be able to own one now. Only way you can get one is if the laws change (when hell freezes over) or if your dad or mom has prohib status and wills it to you.

That's the simple answer.

if a relative legaly owns an ak and you would like to posses it legaly have him get it deactivated as that will be the only way you will manage to save it untill we get started on cracking the unjust OIC's

What about a Marstar VZ-58S?

I agree with the VZ58 alternative, it sure looks like an AK.

I’ve handled and fired an AK extensively and the VZ58 is defiantly not an AK, actually a Swiss arms black–special is closer operationally.

When everyone sees my VZ58 they think it’s an AK. Also, it provides the same functionality as an AK and then some; stripper clip capable, receiver will take a folding stock, machined receiver.

I bought one because I couldn't own an AK.

Get yourself a SKS-D and put a folding stock on it. With a 30/5 mag sticking out of it you have a rough approximation of a AK that uses a real AK mag.
