Are all Hollow Points legal now ??

I'd like to know if all HP rounds are now legal in Hand Guns?

It is illegal to IMPORT them for use in handguns. They can be IMPORTED for rifle use (beretta storm etc..) The laws apply to IMPORTATION only. So, once they're across the 49th - do as you please.

Actually, they've now dropped the importation BS as well now; whether or not the shaved ape at the border knows this is another story. It is perfectly legal to own, use, or import hollowpoint ammo for ANY firearm now.

But, as I found out, if you try and import HP ammo that hasn't been tested by some fancy canadian government organization, you have to send them 1000 rounds for "testing". lol.

someone was smoking dope when they told you that Skyglock17, cuz it's crap, bs and such. There is no import ban on hollow points in any way shape or form. The restriction was lifted at least 1 if not 2 or 3 years ago. Yes some customs officers have no idea about this. Hopefully someone can post a copy of the document that relates to this stupidity.

But, if a paticular type/brand of ammo has never been imported before, it must be tested and certified by some organization right!!?

I had a chance to look at a copy of the approved explosives list a while back. Wolf had his reloaded ammo listed as being tested, as had a few other custom reloaders, and a few off brand ammo companies. I can not recall seeing a listing for all the various Fed/Win/Rem offerings. I can't help but wonder if it's a case of their labs being better than ours :D

You can own them , you can make them ,you can shoot them , you CAN'T import them ( for the most part anyway)

If you check out the NRCAN website, it mentions in the section listing the amount of ammo/powder/primers etc that you can import without a permit, that the previous regulation barring the import of hollowpoint handgun ammo has been dropped.

I think that is the case for commercial resellers (but I'm not certain)

Maybe Redleg could confrim this...

Either way there is no significant cost savings importing ammo from the US.

Yes all ammo imported and sold in Canada needs to have been approved by the explosives branch. Most large ammo companies have all of their production approved already based on sample testing (of random selections not all natures). Small US manufacturers without Canadian importers are unlikely to have had their ammo approved.

I'd appreciated the link to the document stating what is legal to import and in what quantities for individuals and not for resale. Thanx

I don't believe the testing bit matters if you are importing for your own use, it only applies to resale of ammo.
