As far as I know ethical hunting is still a legal activity in most countries .... and ethical means .... hunting with a gun .... and not a bow or spear ... or some other primitive device.

So, yes we can argue if pumps will be banned ..... but I guess we can agree upon that single shot rifles and shotguns will be around as long as hunting is considered a legal activity.


p.s.: So in what countries is a pump rifle or shotgun banned? And in what countries are they still legal?

Let's start with Australia. Pump shotguns and rifles are banned in Australia.

If you can't see the long term, multi generational effort to restrict hunting and gun ownership to an ever decreasing number of people that exists in most countries around the world, then I would suggest you are being willfully obtuse.

Gun control and massively restrictive hunting regs make both effectively non existent in mainland China. Of the 1 1/2 billion who live in India, less than 3,500,000 are allowed a firearms licence. In those two countries alone close to 40% of the world's population is effectively banned from gun ownership.

And as an aside.....ethical hunting means hunting with a gun, not a bow???? WTF?????

pump shotgun actions has been banned for hunting in australia and france. never seen one while i hunted in scotland and uk but for them even a semi auto was not for hunting lol ...

i remember a guy i guided that told me in ozz they can use lever action shotgun but not pump shotgun action.

you re dreaming if the pump actionshotgun are not to be banned one day ...
 
It will only take one evil lunatic to have shotguns front and center of the anti crowd. Just look at how many are advertised for home defense. To some that's protraying violence and there's already laws in the works to ban or restrict the advertising to think they won't try to ban or restrict the product is Ludacris

Until then I will proudly enjoy my pumps and semis

Medvedqc, I have no pretensions to know what the future will hold ..... and you might be right ... who knows .... I only know one thing:

The actions we take today and now ... will determine the future and what is going to happen in the future.

Complaining and #####ing on CGN will change nothing .... I hope we can agree on that one?

(except maybe for converting a fudd like me)

So, what are people doing that might change or determine the outcome of history?

Without numbers, we can do nothing. The people have to want it.

Notice the amount of people that flooded the streets of ottawa and protested (about mandates) didnt make a difference. It was amazing, and it gave me hope for our spirit as canadians, but it did not actually accomplish anything legislatively. At least not yet.

Dual action shotguns like the SPAS ( which is prohibited by name in Canada) were designed this way so you could use rounds like teargas that would not cycle

the action when in semi mode.

Just change the mode of operation and away you go.

This of course terrified the likes of the trudung beetle.

Nothing prohibited about being able to switch between pump and semi. Beretta m3p and tristar tec 12 are a couple that are non-restricted but are far and few. SPAS-12, SPAS-15, and Benelli m3 are prohibited by name.

... and then dozens of more posts, mostly nothing to do with the op's question... which was answered...
