Are all the grips on the m14 stocks as fat as mine?

Hello,

The grip on my m14s is unnecessarily bulky and not very comfortable. Basically, any other rifle feels nice, ergonomic and sleek compared to that bulky chunk of stick.

Are all other stocks as thick as the m14s stocks? How are USGI walnut stocks by comparison? M1a synthetic stocks? Boyd's Stocks? USGI glass?

I would REALLY appreciate some info on this because I'm aching (yes) for a new stock that feels better and makes the gun easier to control.

Thanks

If you want custom composite, a standard profile stock can be made in my shop to your needs/specifications. Not cheap but an option

My original 2007 chu wood stock was really fat. The USGI fibreglass was a real upgrade, really slim and light. According to everything I've read, it should improve the accuracy as well.

Another one that I've handled but not owned yet was the m14s-cqb composite stock from the doc. I played with this while he wasn't looking in port alberni for a few minutes. It's high quality at a price $500 lower than everyone else.

Thank you for that picture, mountainspruce.

That USGI glass stock looks nice. I was looking for one last year but never found one. I'm in Sweden and they're not that easy to find at an online retailer. Do you know of any one who still sells them/ have used ones in stock?

Edit: And how are the springfield stocks by comparison? Those are all over the internet.

I do not have a Springfield stock to compare. Ordering a USGI stock from the USA isn't easy unless you're American and then you can find suitable stocks from Fred's for $35 on up.

What makes of M14 rifles do you get in Sweden, anyhow?

According to Fred's latest ad in the Shotgun News, he is out of USGI fiberglass stocks.
Ad says they may find more as they go through the warehouse.......but the days of plentiful USGI fiberglass stocks are long gone.......

None. between (guessing here) 2007-2009 there was a small company who imported "Outdoor Arms" m14s from norinco. In 2009 the definitions on what constitutes a "hunting rifle" got stricter and it became impossible to get hunting licenses for m14 type rifles.

It's still possible to apply for a competition license for the m14 rifles but in most types of competition there are more competitive options.
