Are Canuck Defenders cylinder bore?

Take it out and it will say on the side of the choke. There will also be notches on the rim of it. Can't confirm what the notches are to what choke though. Mine came with IM, Mod and full choke

Go with MOD for slugs.. that's my go-to. Pattern with a few and see what works best for you.
sounds like canucklehead has more experience than I do. So go with what he says. I know it says on the box of some slugs to use IC for best results.
Go out and play with it. A bruised shoulder and a good time is the worst thing that can happen.

Good advice right here^^^, mod has always been my all around best choke with slugs and shot. It will depend on the brand of slug sometimes but for the most part a mod choke gives me a good pattern with shot at the distances I hunt in and good slug accuracy out to 40-50 yards,

I would fire rifled slugs through any choke up to a full choke, lots of old full fixed choke 12g’s back in the day took deer with slugs. You just have to try a few and see which will give you the best groups at your max usable range.
Any lead slug will go thru a full choke. Dont use xfull or turkey chokes with slugs.

I had a 14" 870P with a fixed MOD choke and it was spectacular with slugs. Most if not all 870P's now come with IC.
As noted - full choke WILL work with slugs, but I've found accuracy drop off compared to MOD or even IC.
Different loads, different guns, different chokes will produce different results. Only way to find out is to try!

The simple trick is to use a dime, you can work out which choke is widest and which smallest fairly easily.
My suggestion would be to try Cylinder and Modified to see if one is better than the other for you in your gun.
As for things that could be bad, the only thing I can think of would be shooting solid balls. The ball has to be able to pass through the choke without requiring compression. This probably means only Cylinder or Improved Cylinder.

If you decide to try steel shot, you don't want to use anything tighter than Mod ( Cyl to mod is good, some guys say Improved mod is ok too). Flares should be shot from Cylinder only. Just a couple of loads types that others haven't mentioned.
