Are lever action good/legit hunting rifles ??

All rifles are good for hunting.

All calibres that are allowed, by the regulations, are good for hunting.

That said, all firearms, in all calibres, are good for hunting.

Some are better than others, for some hunting and, as stated earlier, some are lawful to use.

With lever actions from 22 RF up to 45-70 a guys basically good to o for anything walking around. Game doesn't care if a rifle groups a inch or 2 and a half inch .

I just need to get lucky and find myself a 30-30 Henry x or possibly a Henry x 44 that isn’t twice as much as it is new lol

Thats the tough part. Keep an eye out everywhere. Last summer I (Well, the wife actually) snagged a beautiful marlin 30-30 with 2 boxes of factory ammo at a garage sale... $500

Deals are out there if you look, however, don't expect to get a deal like that on here. If you're holding out for an x model you may not be so lucky and will likely end up having to pay the premium.

Pretty rare to see rifles at a garage sale around me here lol, and yes I’ve seen Henry x 30-30 listed for 2500-3400$ which is absurd in my opinion. Haven’t seen many 44s at all though lots of 22 Henry’s tho lol
Recently found a guy that has a marlin 336 30-30 for 1350$

I’ve always said in the new age of things having to be ergonomic, they got it right with the lever action 140+ years ago.

Well I came across a marlin 336w 30-30 that was manufactured in 2008, he’s unsure how many rounds have been down the barrel. Here are the details, he’s asking 1500$, what do you guys think ??

The classic Marlin 336w in 30-30 in very good condition with basic Pine Ridge Lever Action 3-9x40 scope

Blued steel action, barrel and lever
Chambered in 30-30
Lever action
6 round tubular magazine
Good condition Cabelas Pine Ridge Lever Action 3-9x40 scope
Gold trigger
Original Marlin butt plate
Wood stock - has some carry marks
Very good condition - typical handling and wear marks
JM stamped - 2008 manufacture

If hes "asking" 1500 that tells me he will likely come down a bit on price. Personally I would replace the scope sooner than later, but thats just me. Other than that, its JM stamped, so thats a plus, it should do what you need it to do.

If for some reason you end up not liking it, you could most likely sell it for what you paid, that makes it pretty cheap to try.

I also figured that as well if I didn’t like it I could resell it likely for what those guns are selling for right now lol scope not a good scope I take it ?? Anything special about the good trigger ??

I think? most of the marlins had a gold color trigger, I don't think it means anything special. Hopefully someone who knows more about the trigger will chime in.
As to the scope, it may work fine but I'd have a real hard time putting much faith in an $80 cabelas scope on a hunting rifle.... If a person is on a budget(aren't we all), a (used)bushnell elite 3200 can be had for $200 easily, for a few more bucks you could get a 4200, bit more and you are in Leupold vx2 territory. The sky is the limit with optics, basically you get what you pay for. Just my personal opinion.

Would just need a scope that can help me shoot out to couple hundred yards I suppose, not exactly sure as to how much of a scope power id need for deer hunting
