Are M305 Magazines Still Just Riveted to Limit to 5 Rounds

Hi,

I had an M305 when they first came out. I had a number of magazines that were limited to 5 rounds with a rivet. Is that still the case? Also, I have heard some talk that the base plates
are tack welded. Is that true? I ask because, I'm anal and I have to be able to totally disassemble the magazine for cleaning. If I can't get the magazine apart, I won't bother with getting an M305.

Last time I had an M305 (2014), it came with a 5rds short mag and a rivetted 5/20. I bought an extra 2 5/20 that were rivetted as well. I was able to dissasemble my mags for clean ups. Never saw tack welded magazines.

Sold the M305 in the same year, just not my cup of tea

Thanks, but I need to know the standard, for anything I buy today. I would want to buy extra magazines after I get the rifle.

It almost doesn't matter how the mags that come with it are pinned. A number of vendors bring in mags from various contract manufacturers (usually on a batch basis, and they tend to sell out fairly quickly), so it's relatively easy to find mags that will meet your requirements.

Essentially what they are telling you is there is no 'standard'. There is several different ways they are/can be limited to 5rds, you might have to search around to find the style that suits you.

If you really wanted to you could buy one that is limited a way you don't want and have it re-pinned in the method you prefer (provided it is still limited to 5rds).

Mine has 3 tack welds.

If it bothered me enough, I'd break the welds and clean the mags, re-pin them myself.

If welds are enough to make you not buy one, you never wanted it much in the first place.

a certain recently banned vendor here sold M305 20 round length 5 round mags with a long "fin" on the follower that blocked it to 5 rounds. No rivet to worry about and they easily fully disassembled.

Why not just get the 10 round AIA magazines?
