Are Muzzle Brakes Annoying At The Range?

Back when I had two SKSs, I had one embed the neck of a spent casing into the wooden roof of the range so it hung there!

I think brake's and flying brass are a courtesy thing. Really, don't be a douchebag and hurt someone's hearing! Let them know first, and don't shoot something super concussive and loud if there's nowhere for the other person to go.

I don't get what the fuss is and all the whining over brakes. You are at a range, what would you expect. If someone wants to shoot with a brake, so be it, get over it and shoot. The comment made that anything smaller than a 50 doesn't require a brake is narrow minded bulls#it. Maybe the shooter wants to spot his own rounds? Who knows. All the #####ing about ccw and the gun registry in this country and whiners are complaining about muzzle brakes. This country never ceases to amaze me.

Muzzle breaks not a big deal. I kind of like the shock wave, lets you know your still alive. As for hot brass, I also don't mind although not a joy to get one down the neck. If the range isn't busy it would be nice if the Semi auto guy or the muzzle break guy doesn't sit right next to be but if its busy sit where needed.

There are alot more annoying things to deal with at ranges. Spend some money and buy a decent set of hearing protectors and stop using your fingers! ;)

I shoot both 338 and 50 and with out it I would sure hurt just a little. If I could have a suppressors I would be more than happy to put it on to keep the rest happy. But lets get real we are shooting so wear some good hearing protection, and live happy. Not to mention that many like to take a go on both my 50 and 338 and I am happy to give them a try so they don't care about the noise. Also not like with a 50 or 338 you are putting 1000 rd down range in one day.
