My girlfriend wanted to get her dad a cool lookin scope for his 10/22. Basically the only thing she wanted was enough gizmos and features to keep him busy fooling around with it. LOL. She ended up getting a 3-9x40 leapers scope from Marstar with the light up reticle and mil-dot.

Well the scope came today... and I just HAD to fool around with it haha. But I am having problems with the mil dots... when I look through the scope I cant focus on the reticle.. just the target.. and I cant see any of the mildots.

Am I doing something wrong? How do I use the mil-dots if I cant even focus on them?

no one can help? I tried focusing the scope like the manual says to.. but it gets worse the more i turn the focus adjustment.

Cool scope though. built in lens covers, full rubberized body. Nice solid windage adjustment knobs. and the red/green light up reticle will be nice for evening shoots at the range..

The standard advice for focusing a scope is to look at something at great distance, like the clouds, then quickly glance at the scope. You've got the adjustment right when looking at infinity the reticle is sharp. You may have to repeat this many times while going through the whole range of adjustment. Hopefully there is a setting that works for you.

thanks for the help. i just want to make sure I have some info to pass along to the father inlaw incase he has the same problem. Nothin worse than getting a gift that doesnt work right!

It sounds like the ocular adjustment is out of wack for your vision. If it has an adjustable objective, then turn it for the distance you are looking at.

If it is the ocular ring, its usually located on the very end ( eye end ) and is either a quick adjust ring, or it is locked in place by another smaller ring on the maintube body just ahaed of the eyepiece that needs to be loosened up and the whole eyepiece rotates until the retical becomes clear for your eyes.

i looked through it at night now. the reticle is super clear. I think maybe lookin at trees that are 10 - 20 yards away was the problem. That light up reticle is super cool.. now I need one of these scopes too LOL

Barks: it seems to have a quick adjust eye piece like you described. I fooled around with it a bit.. but I think i should mount it on a rifle and take a look see then.

This begs the question of why you'd want a mildot scope on a 10/22. How many people actually care about 3.6 minute shading when shooting a .22, much less a 10/22?
