Ive been checking Marstars website for almost half a year now and there hasn't been anything in stock . Im concerned in two parts, first off, Norinco products being one of Marstars biggest sellers, this must be devasting to their company, second, does anyone know what the problem is in getting them in the country?

On another note, I was told by a co-worker that he was told by a Border Officer ( US side I think ) That very shortly, there will be no importations of firearms of any kind from the U.S. I hope that's not true. We already have a pretty limited amount of choice as it is. I'm starting to wonder if this has anything to do with future plans in this country. No firearms importations allowed has a slippery slope to no guns allowed. I hope to god im being paranoid :jerkit:

Well, regarding importing American firearms - a friend of a friend is never a good source. But I agree with the sentiment you express.

Finally, regarding Norinco's from Marstar - you should be planning to buy a bunch of whatever you need when the slow-boat arrives. :)

c10a calls for all firearms to be marked with the importers name, kinda like what the usa has been doing for the last 20 years or so. This will lead to all the importers in canada going broke at the same time as the equipment to mark the guns is quite pricey and will kill the industry.

We should do a pool on how fast they sell out of the NP-29's and other 1911's when they arrive... ;)
How fast they run out on paper? on their web site? or of guns? They are all different at Marstar you know... :runaway:

Point is though that it is totally not required, especially in the computer age. All guns have a manufacturer and serial number shown. There is NO reason to mark up a gun even more. We already have to put up with silly "Read the fn manual" warnings on the barrels.

TO ALL WHO ARE ASKING ABOUT NORINCO;
Well as you all know we had deliveries scheduled in April, June & August....
NONE of these arrived, paperwork, documents, permits etc, etc....All on the other end....
We now have three containers due (promised) by year's end.

Yup, these threads always wind up turning into a Marstar slagfest by some malcontents...

You slag them and then you line up to buy from them, and then when they don't have what you want anymore, you slag them again.

1) Complain and tow that line-don't buy from them
2) Shut up and make your purchase when the time comes, be happy John works as hard as he does to bring in this stuff and don't complain when you can't have what you want "now"
3) Import the stuff you want yourself brainiacs...

(Yes, I did wake up crabby)

johnone - perhaps Fudd's comment is a suggestion that actual warehouse inventory, website inventory and print ad inventory may have a casual relationship.
Criticizing a business on a forum like this one isn't really helpful, and could only serve to hurt the business.
All businesses want to have efficient and effective customer relations. It only makes sense. Inconsistant service, can only reduce sales.
The Chinese merchandise arrives in batches at unpredictable intervals. If it is frustrating for customers, imagine what it it like for the business. Ideally, there should be a continuous ontime flow of merchandise, but this is simply not the case.

My post was meant to comment on the popularity of the Norinco 1911 style pistols, not to slag the importer of them. There are many of us who would like to take 'Hungry's' advice and have TWO Norinco NP-29's...

Thanks for the update...much appreciated. ;)

Everyone should have a 'brace' of Norc 1911's... :D

Its funny I have a Kimber, Colt and STI as well as extensively modified Norinco but now I'm itching for box stock M1911A1 with all the chi-com markings removed (except serial # of course) professionally reblued, small military sights, kart barrel, blued EGW bushing, spurr hammer and rest stock as is. Now quite the WWII replica but a clean looking 1911.

There's something cool about a stock 1911...

Well, sorry that might have came off a little harsh. But it just seems to me (in the past anyway) and others that I have talked to and read here that the web site stock status isn't exactly always up to date. Call in to place order and received "ya we have some left" (on paper) and then find out that it is sold out. Or order item, get billed, but no item arrives. It didn't get shipped. It just seems that there needs to be some better paper/office work.

Now, John, please don't get me wrong, I think Marstar does a great job of bringing in items that we couldn't get elsewhere or at a greatly reduced cost. But I for one wouldn't mind paying $10 more for a Norinco 1911 if it meant that when I ordered I could trust that it would be here when it should be (after CFC approval wait, shipping, etc.) If you're out of stock and I missed the boat (boat :p) such is life and I should have ordered earlier.

I will continue to shop at Marstar as I think they do fill a need for Canadians but service could be improved. That's all.

Thanks for the Update :). I know this is probably hard to answer, but, the when the stock finally gets released, is there enough products to last a while or do you guys forsee this order being enough to fill the backorders and being sold out again very quickly? More specifacly the 1911's.

Cheers.

Why do you guys want cheap poor quality copies of other manufactures designs? Why not get the real thing or at least something that has a decent finish on it? I just don't get this Norinco thing. I spoke to a gunsmith about them and he told me he refuses to work on them as they just break. He can't understand why someone would take a poorly made copy and spend all kinds of money on it with expensive aftermarket components. You really do get what you pay for in most cases. Clones I say but with crappier components. It can't be the money thing because the ammo costs so much over a short period of time. You'd think people would spend a few extra dollars and get something of higher quality with more durability and more value. Oh I think I'm stirring the pot but I want to know what you guys are thinking. Is it about the savings?
