Are parker hales any good?

My brother has had his Parker Hale in .270 since he bought it as a teenager (we're both in our 50s now). It's his one and only centerfire rifle. Need I say more?

Tried some old factory ammo for S&G's, IMR-4350 and 165 grain anythings will shoot "way" better. ,

Made me smile. Are those 220 grain Imperial cartridges? My Dad handed me the Safari De Luxe loaded with a few 220s when I was a teen and it just about set me back on my behind. Still have the rifle and it's my absolute favourite.

I own a few PH rifles in various calibers. The early ones were built on surplus actions (no slight there, some of the best actions ever made were used). Later ones used commercial 98 type actions made in Spain (still good actions). Made in various forms over the decades; sporters, varmint, target. They were the Canadian military's sniper rifle for a long time. ( as well as Britain, Australia, New Zealand etc). They are good classic rifles. - dan

Yep, 220's . On another conversation on here I thought they were 180's but pulled one to check. 43.8 grains of small extruded powder for about 2400fps. And , Jackrabbit000, Holy Crap! that is rare.

Hi, I have a Parker Hale Safari in 30 06 for sale. I have owned the rifle since the early 80s. I bought it from an elderly gentleman who had owned it for some tome before me. It is converted military, which you know immediately from the two stage military trigger. It looks goods and shoots well. I was asking $550 for the rifle plus shipping. It includes a Bushnell Scopechief IV with a moveable command post. The scope is a classic as well, but it works as well as the day it was new.

Any pics?

I currently own 3 - all of them in 30-06. I have two 1200's (one being a Safari) and a Midland. Also have 3 magazines. They are excellent shooters, although for my first 1200, I had to do some trimming on the stock due to grouping issues to free float the barrel. The other two, are excellent rifles and as control feeds, are exceptional in operation.

The PH is a Mauser type bolt and the Midland is a Springfield mauser type.
