I keep checking on Hummason's site, they used to have really great sale prices on powders every few weeks. I recall getting IMR 4320 for $14/lb only last year. Now everything on their site is listed at $30/lb. They do have BLC-2 at $26/lb - but that's about as low as it goes.

There's no point of a sale when there is a shortage on. If a retailer can't get enough, why sell it cheap? One thing to remember about shortages - it means the retailer isn't getting to sell it and make money either. So when it's in, they won't give away what profit they can get. If it is in regular supply, then sure.

Where do you see prices on their site?

EDIT: Never mind.. I found it.

Finally broke down and bought 3 8lb jugs of H4895. When Hummason is getting low on powder its time to stock up. I doubt I'll ever get powder at less than $24/lb anytime soon.
One of them is for a buddy of mine, but should keep me in powder for awhile.

What do you need 24lbs on h4895 for? Multiple calibers? Or just load lots for one?

Just like gasoline........every time one beeeches 'bout it, uppity it goes.

Well, I hated to cave in to the 'buy while you can' mentality, but there comes a point when I worry about
the future of the supply. A Little peace of mind. Worst case scenario if powder runs dry long term, I won't have to worry about buying premium ammo of the shelf, which would probably really restrict a lot of shooters including myself.

I wouldn't say you have caved, just using some good old common sense. After having been through periodic droughts in the past I do just the same thing,in fact there aren't too many trips to any of the local gunshops I frequent that don't result in a purchase of either primers, powder or bullets or some combination thereof.

No such thing as a powder selling for reduced price. U be lucky to even find powder anywhere period. Have not seen reloader 17,re15,re22 in over a year.
