Are shorter mags available for Browning BLR?

Hi,

I hunt with an older Browning BLR in .308 Win. Love this little rifle. From time to time I like to walk around through the woods with it and I find the trail carry comfortable. I was wondering if you can buy a shorter box mag for these rifles that is more flush with the bottom of the receiver? The one that I have with it sticks out 5/8" from the bottom of the receiver making it kinda awkward to hold.

The model your describing I think is pre 81.The mags are like that ,not much you can do.The 81s are flush mount.

yeah, the older ones have the hang down mag, if you don't like that, all you can do is offer them for sale to me at a discount price! I can live with them! ;)

haha, I love this rifle and I've lived with it for 9 years...I think I can deal with it.

I was reading that on the 81, the half hammer position is not a safety. Is that true with the pre 81 I have?

there was another thread here on that subject, I just forget what is what on that, try a search, you might be luckier than me on using the search thing. but yeah, there was a lot of talk on that safety issue with the 81 and pre 81 BLR's. Perhaps someone will post the thread.

Edit: Here it is:
