I use to own a SIG P226 9mm, and I hated those sh*tty mags that are cut off 1/4 down with hollow plastic sh*t!.........makes loaded 10 real thumb-busters, and looks like crap when inserted, viewing from the bottom.

I think I might grab a SIG P226 .40 S&W and I'm wondering if there the same design, or because there .40 they will be entirely made out of metal.

Does anybody know what the case with the .40 cal mags???

Thanks,
Pietro.

Yes the sig 226 .40/357sig 10rd mags bodies are all steel ecept the base plate. I too hate the half plastic 9mm ones(wich was the biggest part of my decision to get a .40), my friend has a para p14-45, and the factory mags with the extended plastic base keep breaking on him. Here is what they look like, I also got a 357sig bbl, its in the gun, and the .40 is beside.

Nope you have to use the 9mm mags. Though there is no issue with droping the 9mm barrel into the 40 s&w slides other than maybe spring weight?

I was shooting the .357 conversion bbl yesterday, what a blast! Shooters next to me were not happy about the noise/blast and flameage lol.

What really sucks about the 9mm mags is that because the mag is 1/4 plastic bottom the spring tension it far too great. First of all fitting the 10th round in is a real thumb-buster....

Second of all is that once you've loaded a 10-shot clip...inserting it into the magwel when the slide is forward with chambered round (Full clip + one in the chamber) is NOT happening....well, mabee if you slamed it full power with a hammer, or on a hard table. When a mag is fully loaded there still needs to be some room for the spring to "breath"

In my opinion.... SigP226 9mm Luger mags are a disgrace to all mags :(
Unfortunately one of the reasons I sold my two-tone 9.

Black .40 S&W ...HERE I COME!!!!!

Hey Pietro... The Italian boys who built that sweet baby in your avatar could teach our Swiss German friends at Sig a few things about how to build ten round mags for a fifteen round 9mm pistol. I'll bet dimes to doughnuts Berettas system is cheaper too. I agree they are ugly, hard to work with, and overall shameful feats of engineering.

Pietro, all I have seen for the 9mm mags are the half plastic/half metal. By deciding to go with the 40 S&W, it is very simple to swap between the 9 and the 40. Just keep an eye open for a complete 9mm slide and you are done. The two-tone is a 40 and the extra slide is the 9mm. The mag to the left is the 9mm and the other is the 40 S&W.

Hey Mr. Chooch, I thought all one needed was to swap the .40 bbl for a 9mm, and the mag and recoil spring? If you could try fitting the 9mm bbl in the .40 slide, and firing it and reporting back that would be great.

There was never suppose to be a 10rd mag, thats why they contract them out to... mec gar in italy! The people who live in free countrys and who are leo/military get the original normal capacity mags!

Mec-Gar did a batch for SIG Arms, but Sauer makes the ten-round mags currently themselves (and they did to begin with, until SIG Arms decided it was cheaper to get them from Mec-Gar)..
