I don't need a video to answer that. CCI 400 and WSR are used for almost all my pistol loading.
Safe - yes. Will a striker pistol ignite 100% MAybe.
According to Speer/CCI Technical Services - Both the CCI 550 Small Pistol Magnum and CCI 400 Small Rifle primers are identical in size. Both primers use the same cup metal and share the same cup thickness. Both primers use the same primer compound formula and same amount of primer compound. They can be used interchangeably.
Done this many times. No issues or fail to fire
Not to take this south but a buddy had pistol primer issues with a .44 mag Redhawk. Can he swap out for rifle primers? If so mag or standard?
44 Mag are large pistol primers. Unlike Small Pistol / Rifle, Large Rifle primers and Large Pistol primers are not the same size and not interchangable. Not to take this south but a buddy had pistol primer issues with a .44 mag Redhawk. Can he swap out for rifle primers? If so mag or standard?
I used large pistol with rifle casings in the past without any problems.
Also the possibility of a slam fire with a high primer. My 44 rem mag gets used my contenders , Raging Bull and Ruger semi. I have never experienced a slam fire yet, my primers are seated below flush. I have used small rifle primers in pistol cartridges if the manufacturer said they are the same dimensions. SR primers are used with ball powders in my 357 mag and 357 REM max with excellent results. There is often one way compatibility, if your firing pin will reach then no problem. Using LR in an LP pocket usually means you won't get the round into battery.

Can I ask why reloaders consider their Frankenstein concoctions to be more desirable over the major OEMs stringently researched products?
