I have one. ALMOST the same thing, except, I still have factory wood on it and I've used Weaver pivot mounts. The 'Bears' might laugh, but they'll only do it once.

With the proper hold over shooting a bear at 200 yards with a 45-70 is an easy shot. Just thought I would let the rookie know that.

200 yards is no big deal for that gun... didn't amphib take a moose at over 250 with his (far superior) 444 a few years ago? Or am I thinking of someone else?

never owned a 444. never shot a moose over 150 with my .450 either. you are thinking of someone else.

PS - as funds allow, would you please install an MPI stock, ditch the Weaver s**t that is occupying the holes meant for a ghost ring, and put a tru glo front sight in. The way you got it now, you might as well of bought a BLR 450 marlin, and shoot lever rev in it
