Are the new ISSC MK22 rifles fixed?

I'm thinking about buying one of these.

I like the look of them but I HATE the reviews on them. A quick google search will reveal that anyone who's put rounds down range says "DON'T BUY IT!"

Are the ones on the gun store shelves fixed? If they are I'd plunk the money down.

Owners? - what do you say?

I've heard that they are much better (still can't use the super cheap ammo yet), guys at the shops have said nothing but good things about them too. I have one coming in next week so once I have time to take it out to the range I can report back (probably march the way things are these days)...

I'm sure others could chime in, but I think the only issues I heard of on the first batch were mainly locktite and screw length related. All of which could easily be remedied for under $10

I own one of the first batch and it was terrible out of the box but since doing all the necessary work its able to shoot anything I put through it, even the cheap bulk stuff! Hopefully these new ones work good, shouldn't have to tinker with a brand new rifle.

Can I ask what makes you want this rifle over another, for example, the Ruger SR-22?

It's the way it looks actually. Same way I picked my first wife too... :( ugggg... maybe I just talked myself out of it... she never worked and stuck me with a big bill.

I've got a couple 10/22 rifles. I think I just want something different. I looked at the copy of the M1 by Chiappa (?) It had LOTS of plastic. So does the MK22 tho, but then it's supposed to be plastic.

To be honest the best tactical .22 is the ruger SR-22. It has a solid aluminium body, only plastic parts are the 10/22 trigger group and the buttstock part. Mine has been flawless since I bought it. Not to drag on the ISSC but the reviews are horrible. The SR-22 look great too when fully decked out. check out this picture

I love my MK22. I purchased mine January 2013.I believe the FTE and FTF issues have been fixed. My gun however can only shoot 36 grain ammo (bulk, CCI etc, all cycle only if it is 36 grain, 40 grain doesnt work. I have over 2000 rounds through mine and have very few jams.

I don't think they're any different out of the box. I've had two and they were both exactly the same. The most recent I received in early Jan. 2013. And it failed every 5 or 6 rounds. BUT... with a little time and few minor fixes (easily found on this forum) you'll have a pretty sweet and reliable rifle. Mine fires anything I put through it. I'd definitely recommend it.

Just got mine in the mail yesterday. There do seem to be some improvements over what was previously an issue. The stock seems to be a very sturdy plastic and the bolts in the upper are longer, so no need to replace them now. I also noticed loctite on many of the parts which was an issue in the past. Hope it helps

Well, I had a chance to take it out to the range today, put about 350 rounds through it. Mix of CCI Mini Mags and Federal AutoMatch. Out of the 350 or so I had about 6 light primer strikes and about 5 FTF (feed issues from the mag). All in all, i'm very happy with it and know I need to break it in a bit more.

My last shots through it were 4 mags, fully loaded and shooting fairly quickly. I had 1 light primer strike in the first 3 shots and the rest went off without a hitch.

Hey there,

I just got mine a week or two ago.

First time out at the range and it was all good. I ran through Federal 36 grain bulk, blazer 40 grain bulk, and remington thunderbolt.
I did have a few FTE's that always happened during rapid fire and always as the last round was being stripped off the magazine (so the second last round failed to eject).
I've done nothing to the gun so far, and I may not have to pull it apart and tweak the guts. ( only 4 FTE's in ~300 rnds )
Mine is date stamped as quality control checked in sept 2012.

I passed it around at the range and two or three other guys there said "Im getting one of these".

My Troy battle rails arrived in time to put on. I picked up a 4 pack for 20+ shipping on ebay and they go great on this gun. Also getting a Ncstar Acog style fixed 4 power scope to drop on top.

edit: no offence to others, but the ruger 1022 based tacticals all look like ####. The magazines look ugly times a thousand. If you're going to get a tactical 22 make it one that doesnt look like a joke...

ISSC MK22 - Almost fixed

Howdy,

I just got an ISSC MK22.

The Quality Control date stamped on the box was "September 2012".

The main problem with the MK22 is light strikes as per the Gun Nuts thread: http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?816438-Repairing-ISSC-MK22-with-LIGHT-STRIKE-PROBLEM-OR-MISFIRE&highlight=mk22

ISSC has replaced the rear (vertical) socket head screw (#108) with the M4x16 as the user community suggested. Still no washer. There is a little bit of play between the bolt carrier group and the "Degree Angle" due to the lack of the washer.

I fired a box of Federal Bulk Pack (525 round) at a pretty decent pace. One failure to feed, one failure to fire (light strike).

The failure to feed may have been because I overloaded the magazine. They are designed to hold 22 rounds, 23 works no problem. 24 causes problems.

The failure to fire was between shot 500-->510, right near the end of the box. When I got home to inspect and clean the rifle I noticed both screws had shook quite loose, but did not fall out. I suspect with some locktight and the washer the gremlins will go away.

The new rifle comes with plastic (fake) magpul style flip up battle sights. Shooting offhand with the OEM sights I was cutting decent holes into targets up to 20 meters away. Beyond that I have problems with the factory sights and my grouping opened up to >2".

So to be short, no. ISSC did not resolve the problems. All that said, it's a cheap fix you can do yourself on your first cleaning.

I contacted North Sylva Co, the Canadian distributors/warranty shop, and they referred me to the Gun Nutz article I linked and offered no further assistance. (no free washers). I'm not one to beg for service so I'll leave it there and get the parts myself.

Im waiting on my Battledyne mags for my sr22, couldn't stand the look of the weird skinny banana shaped ones.
