Are the vz58 worth the cost ocer a cz 858?

Blah, so the safety rotates more then most. Weld spots are just part of the manufacturing process, no law says a receiver can't have welds.
 
Welding seems ok when you deactivate a gun, gotta weld a rod in the chamber ect. Why would weld spots be a problem in manufacturing firearms! I think they have a OCD issue with Converted Autos, they are seeing thing where they may not be, like pink elephants :evil:
 
I think the panty bunching comes from the fact that the CZH was converted from a full auto rifle which is not allowed according to the laws in place. They slipped in with the the flood of 858s and 58s They are probably concerned that it could be converted back by milling the welds and replacing any removed material. I looked over my CZH and concluded they may have a point albeit very string grasping. By all means there are a lot of rifles that can be "converted" if one would like to be a complete criminal and had the machines and resources needed to complete the task. The department that tests and tries to convert these rifles have a lot more time, money and free rifles than your average gun enthusiasts will ever have... not to mention this department employs professionals not bubba with a grinder and a dremel and a dream of being a full auto hero hiding deep in the bush just so they can shoot a few bursts.

I'm just frustrated that years after the fact, the RCMP apparently has the "power" to go back and re-look or "attempt" a reclassification of the Vz family and others for that matter. I do realize that there is nothing currently confirmed on a reclassification any time soon, but even the thought of it gets me boiling. We jump through all the hoops and follow all the laws and yet we are still "spoon fed" our rights as Canadians. I'm not the best letter writer, but I'm sure there is a template around here somewhere I could send outlining our frustrations..
 
I posted this in another thread about this, it is what I think;

This document is from 2010 but more importantly is the statement with regards to the background specifically that Wolverine wants to import these rifles. In addition, the report also states, ‘More information of the firearm has been requested from the business prior to making a decision concerning the classification’.

I read this as a report filed when Wolverine initially filed for importation not something current. The important statement with regards to the CZ is ‘More information of the firearm has been requested from the business prior to making a decision concerning the classification’. If I am not mistaken that decision has already been made. In my mind this is the initial classification of the rifles imported by Wolverine not a reclassification, but I could be wrong.
 
I just bought a new VZ-58 NR 7.62x39 non-chrome bore.

I blame this thread and the cold meds.

They had chrome bore but I didn't want one, less accurate and it's easy enough to clean a bore and not use corrosive ammo.
 
I dont own a CZ858 but I do have a NR VZ58 in 7.62.
I spent a ton of time researching the 858 vs VZ58 before I bought the VZ58.
- Better finishing
- Better reciever
- Way Better furniture

But less mags and more expensive.

I have noticed that 858's pop up on EE alot, but I rarely see the NR VZ58's for sale. Seems most owners keep them. That should say something
