Are these 12g hulls worth reloading ?

Just starting out as well with shotgun reloading and have been collecting spent hulls at my range.

I am getting all different types as you can probably imagine.

I was told that aluminium is inferior to brass. ( Can stick in some chambers )

Should I bother keeping and reloading the ones in the photo ? ( I ended up with around mixed 100pcs of the aluminium)

The green shell is a Remington Gun Club and the Red shell is Winchester light.

Check with a magnet, the aluminum may be steel. Not sure of aluminum but I wouldn't bother with steel.

I try and use brass, some reason my 870 express locks up real tight with aluminum...

In my opinion, its better to invest money into quality ammunition with good reloadable hulls. Your loading press will work best when only one kind of hull is used, and you won't have to make adjustments.

Find shells that you like and can reload, invest in a few flats of them, or even a few boxes at a time. When you have enough, then start reloading.

The remingtons work fine for me, just a bit harder to resize is all, they are a one piece design that is superior for reloading, crimp nice as well. Do not bother with the winchesters you have, if you ever get desperate they are easy to find!!

I reload the remingtons and they work fine. Not the best quality hulls, but pretty inexpensive.

The Gun Club's reload quite well; very good plastic. Use STS reload data.

I load lots of them. Fire and forget ammo.
Just pick them up and throw them out.
I hate digging AA hulls out of the mud and crap at the farm.

Personally I would not load them to max for hunting.
Only reload them 1 time.
Kids deprime and resize them.

I use AA load data.
17.3g of Green Dot and 1oz of #2 shot gets a nice soft 1050fps load for the kids to kill zombie pop bottles with.

Get a book and follow the data.

The Remington gun clubs reload just fine.

IMHO the Remington hulls (12 or 20 ga.) are the only hulls worth reloading. All are of one piece construction (whether Gun Club, Sport Load, STS, etc.) and use the same reloading data. The only difference between them is the Gun Club and Sport Load hulls have a steel head while the STS heads are made of brass. They also can be reloaded many times.

I load the bulk pack hulls once or twice max depending on inspection and then toss them in the trash. They are not great but work fine for mid range plinking loads
