This guy's webpage is a sort-of-serious venue to critique current policy and to trumpet his pet projects. Most of the editor's ideas are "entertaining", but there are some informative guest pieces. Poke around the index and homepage to see what triggers the man's curiousity.

about ####ing time someone paid attention to me. I've been asking for something like that for about 10 years. I've never understood why it wasn't done sooner. LMT stuff is nice, but still not what I want. The above is closer though.

no it's not in the CF, we use the tri rail but have been aquiring knight armaments quad piccatinny rail system

There are no plans to acquire the KAC rail system....we purchased 19 000 triads for CF use just last year.....

That being said, there is a very strong movement against the triad who are also figuring out what paperwork to fill out to get things heard...

While I disagree with CWO Crocker on a number of issues -- he is an ethical man who would not stoop to that - he admits KAC would be prefered IF we had money.

Q9: “LAD Spec 3.2.3 Interface Requirements: The specification allows the use our own mount and we can do that but if the project office would consider a change to the TRIAD rail or one part of it, they could save themselves a lot of money and make the ‘Company’s’ bid easier as well…”

A9: DND will not consider any changes/modifications to the Triad Mount. As indicated in the Soldier’s LAD and Commander’s LAD Performance specifications, the solutions provided must either interface to the Triad Mount or be provided with a small arms (C7A1 and C8) mounting assembly, using a MIL-STD-1913 type rail.

Notwithstanding the above and although the acquisition is restricted to MOTS, certain accessories, support items and interfaces may need design changes, modification or adaptation work performed in order to meet unique Canadian requirements. Therefore, design changes, modification and adaptation work to selected accessories, support items and interfaces, such as the rail grabber assembly, may be permitted if so identified in the Performance Specifications.

Booooooooo! :(

MPI -- The STANO project will not pay for RAS's -- they rely upon LCMM-SA to fund the weapons adaptor (and LCMM SA does not have the budget)
So the TRIAD-1 is the CF mount of choice for the time being (even though units have bought RAS units from KAC thru Diemaco or R.Nicholls)

Or the troops have bought their own,I know of at least 40 or so triads that will be staying in Canada along with a bunch of Elcrap scopes, and the odd Tac Vest or 2 dozen. :)
Too bad all the cash seems to be going to big gee wizz projects, almost nothing new for the soldier on the ground as far as personal kit goes.

I know a few of us who will be buying Samson drop in rails from Armseast when we get a chance to. As for the stuff staying when we deploy, there are a few Elcans and triads staying out west as well. Chest rigs are the norm out here too.
Hoddie.

Well there are a number of lessons learned coming back from Afghanistan that will have an impact on SA equipment. The triad has not receive much positive reviews to say the least. I will be able to advise later in Sept after a couple of key meetings...

Hmm -- I guess all the lessons learned from the US military which created the RAS had to be relearned up here...

Yup.....but things are doing much better overall. I can tell you of some issues that have been addressed at lightning speed for the troops overseas.....
