Are these slugs available in Canada

Was just at Italian sporting goods in vancouver and they have them! 10shell value pack for $9.99. Call and double check though I'm not sure if they were the full steel slug.

There's a sticky somewhere with a link to the accepted ammo in Canada, but that looks too cool to be allowed into Canada.

Hey now we have some cool stuff... 8.5" barrel punp shotgun without a tax stamp and paperwork i guess... but GOD FORBID we put a pistol grip on it because that turns it into a weapon of mass destruction!

I will have to check that out tomorrow! Solid steel 1 1/8 ounce, 1410fps for 2 3/4" and 1575fps for 3". If I can get my hands on these I won't have to make my own brennekes :).

Tapp - what part of the store did you see them? They weren't with the other shotgun ammo and the guy I talked to said they didn't carry them.

He is going to see if they can bring them in, and also if they can bring in some of the RWS brennekes. Told him there are some other guys interested so if there is a minimum order I might get a bunch and then sell them. Should hear back sometime next week.

In what way are they a downgrade? Because they don't expand, or they're not full caliber?

not full caliber, steel, dont expand, far less energy, etc.

then there is the fact that steel is a downgrade to lead -- merely necessitated for waterfowl due to stricter environmental controls.

im also skeptical of the brush-busting claims, 12ga lead slugs - especially the hardened Brenneke slug - are known brush-busters. not sure what can be 'improved' on that at shotgun ranges, and unless there is actual documented 3rd party testing the claims are worthless.

as for penetration through trees -- how about aiming better? it simply penetrates because its a subcaliber steel projectile that does not expand.

Fair enough, but their marketing stuff aside, the energy comparison would depend one what brenneke model, as some are equivalent. And non-expanding isn't necessarily a drawback for some applications, if the alternative is over-expansion. I wouldn't be as interested in alternatives if I could get my hands on some brennekes, but they don't seem to be available in Canada, or at best intermittently from very few suppliers.

At any rate, Italian can't get the ones the op was wondering about, nor the rws brenneke style slugs. None of their distributors are bringing them in. They weren't too sure why, possibly lack of demand or import restrictions.

I did some penetration tests on the weekend which are relevant to this topic with a range of products, if anyone's interested. I'll post that in the ammo section in my homemade slug thread later, need to clean and take pics of recovered ammo and organize pics.

Thanks everyone appreciate the feedback.

I was just hoping to try something different than the run of the mill slug we have had for sometime.

Randy

Looking forward to seeing those expansion test pics.:HFU:
