Are we killing ourselves with lead

I've been reading about led poisoning, and was wondering how much lead goes into the game we shoot at?
Does lead vaporize mildly when entering animals and if fragmenting can we consume it accidentally .im going toward the new lead free bullets like the Barnes .i get enough lead vapour in the indoor shooting range as it is. I'm just asking if anyone knows. Our family eats a lot if wild game .

NOPE! My grandfather was around lead his whole life from serving in WWII to African Safari's, to reloading shotshells and skeet shooting for 30+ years... Lived into his mid 70's.... 75 IIRC

The answer is no. You need to be careful with how you handle it, but its overblown

I only shoot outdoors.

I do hunt with lead bullets and lead shot.

Nobody in my family ever had high lead levels, ever.

I couldn't care less about the whole lead thing, as it has proven to be a non-issue.

Lead is an issue guys. I have been a fisherman my entire life and when I was a kid I used to use my teeth to crimp down sinkers to line. I realize how much lead I ingested and its pretty dangerous. lead being a heavy metal it doesn't just leave your blood steam through the kidneys it stays in there. If your lead levels are high get medication or eat lots of citrus fruit. Their heavy metals bind to molecules found in citrus fruit and your body can then expel them. No amount of beer and clams are going to help. sorry.

The more I read about it the more I'm moving towards lead free for my hunting ammo. Especially now that I have children who are eating the game I shoot. I think a few people have to educate themselves a little more.

An interesting read.

I don't shoot in a poorly ventilated indoor range, but I suggest some people are probably taking more years off their lives worrying about inconsequential crap than the danger of ingesting lead from hunting bullets.

If I'm dying of lead poisoning, it is a damn slow death... I have been eating lead for 50 years... and I'm still vertical...

There is no question that big game hunters that utilize lead bullets do ingest lead...that has been scientifically proven a dozen times. What is not so clear is whether that lead is harmful or not.
