Are WK180Cs still unreliable?

That's setting quite the expectations for someone. That matches my heavy barrelled AR-15. 10 shots average just under an inch with hand loads, and that's with a heavy Krieger 1:7.7 barrel, prs stock, competition trigger. As for the bulk federal AE 55 grain, you can add ++ to the 1.5" figure. I don't even bother with that ammo any more unless I'm happy with just knocking over plates.

I think the other person is a better shooter than me and in fairness they may have changed the trigger out but I don't know.

The rifle has a great barrel and once you're used to the trigger and it's had a couple hundred trigger pulls it becomes even better.

I'm not sure why you dislike the AE 55gr ammo it's very good stuff for the guns it goes through.

Will it beat the high end ammo? No not at 40c a round but it will let me shoot 3x 10 round 2moa groups for the same price as 1x 10moa 1-2moa groups.
 
For the right purpose, it has its place. I can't get 1.5" groups out of it, not even in my bolt gun that shoots 0.5 moa with hand loads.

If I keep ae stuff under 3" at 100yrds I'm happy. It's like they guarantee a flyer in every 5 rnds.

The 180c is also has terrible trigger, I should replace mine this spring and see if my groups change. It'll at least be more pleasurable.

What trigger are you thinking of using as a replacement?

Assuming they'd worked(all parts fit), love to try a larue mbt-2s if I could find one near the price of what they go for in the usa, the Geissele 2 Stage is likely something I can find up here though.

I don't know much about ar15 triggers so I might be missing something better in the budget
I like 2stage designs, and rather it not be too light.

I have two 5/10 round mags I got when I bought my M&P rifles, they apparently push quite hard on the bolt catch because I always have to pull twice on the charging handle to release the bolt. Other than that everything works great...

I had a threaded charging handle snap, my barrel nut was not tightened properly, my bolt carrier was part of the recall and I had a significant chamber defect. I'm not saying any of it is acceptable but I am not too bothered. I have seen worse from supposedly more reputable companies.

After all that I still appreciate how accurate and reliable it seems to be. I will likely buy one of the NS guns honestly. The drama between Kodiak and Wolverine is lame but I believe them both to be decent Canadian companies.
 
I got one for Christmas. In the first forty rounds I had six failures-to-feed, with three different magazines, all of different types, shooting Federal 55gr. Another cleaning and back to the range for another sixty rounds. Got almost to the end of those without a hiccup, was feeling good about the WK, then it fails to extract a spent case and tries to feed another round into it. It jammed that round in really well, to the point I couldn't get the magazine out. Luckily I had the aftermarket bolt release, so I was able to lock the bolt back and carefully pry the cartridge free so I could remove the mag and empty case. When cleaning after that, I noticed a prominent burr on the inside of the left charging handle slot, and I haven't been able to get the hand guard off as the screws were apparently torqued by an angry gorilla.

Also, not entirely Kodiak's fault, but the aftermarket brass deflector's washer got torn apart by the bolt carrier, and part of it is now jammed into a hole in the rear plate which holds the guide rods.

Overall, the rifle is trash, and I will be steering well clear of any and all Kodiak products from now on.
 
Strange, have three friends with these and no issues at all. One has a 3d printed deflector that I s a friction fit, personally I would not be installing a washer inside where the bolt is moving. Going out with buddies this weekend to smack some gongs with their 180s and my bag of reloads. Wish I could take my AR but at least we got the 180s to play with.

Question, did you call Kodiak about the bolt extractor spring, one of the rifles had to swap out the spring with an AR spring like I did on my old AR.

I just picked up a WK used. Came with the ALG ACT trigger. I think it fits your criteria for a not so light, cost effective trigger. Arms East sells them.
 
Geissele G2S, MOE+ grip with the beavertail carved off, ACS stock, runs like a dream with MFT polymer pistol mags.
Closing in on 1 MOA with cheap Winchester value pack 45 grain hollow points. No lemon here...
