This is my friends website e is creating. It's a pretty cool idea to get so much hunting info under one umbrella. I think it will get launched by the fall. But anyway, here is his message. I couldn't think of a better forum to put this in so hope it's okay.

Howtohunt.com is sending an open invitation to expert hunters who are interested in becoming contributors to our website. We are building a team of experts in every facet of hunting, from all regions of North America. We are looking for people that not only know every aspect of hunting their particular favorite species, but are also able to put it into film in a way that teaches other hunters the tips, tricks and secrets. The individuals we select need to be the very best of the best- dedicated to the hunt and taking us all along for the ride from start to finish.

We aren't looking for people that want to become celebrities in the hunting entertainment business or filming a typical hunting show or DVD. Nor is it another Hunting internet forum. We want to see your hunt unfold as you experience it. Perhaps you live and breathe mule deer hunting? We want to see the whole process, in small installments. Starting with collecting a shed in the winter and then following up with scouting, checking rubs, the whole chase culminating in finding the animal. As the journey is more important than the end, the emphasis is on how you got there, not the kill shot.

We already have plenty of experts on board- Sheep, moose and grizzly guides and outfitters, trappers, taxidermists and many others. We are still looking for more highly skilled and motivated hunters to round out our lineup of true experts. We want expert hunters for all species from all regions, not just one.Currently we need representatives for Whitetail Deer, Mule Deer, Coues Whitetail, Sitka Blacktail, Columbia Blacktail, Rocky Mountain Elk, Desert Bighorn, Dall Sheep, Wild Turkey and Waterfowl.

This isn't for everyone. You need to be a truly passionate expert in your field with a real desire to share your knowledge, coupled with an ability to capture that on film in a manner others can learn from.

Is this you or someone you know?

Go to our temporary website h owtohunt.com to check it out, and contact us at contribute@howtohunt.com
Thanks and good luck to all.

Interesting to see how that turns out. Compensating the experts could be tricky and weeding out the guys who are expert from those that think it will be a tougher interview process than I went through with the wife!!

I'd volunteer if it wasn't for that pesky overbite......

The term "expert" or "pro" makes me cringe. These so called experts as they are called by all these television shows are only experts in that they get to hunt at exclusive "managed" locations and are usually accompanied by a guide or guides.

Myself, I am no expert but I can put game on the table and am quite content in how I hunt and the success I have.

the spank is a Waterfowl Expert, skilled in computers and photography, a quality journalist, and a high quality mentor for younger Hunters. I have known him for 30 years, and he was the FIRST person that came to mind when I read this post. STEP UP SPANK....Respectfully. Jim

The day i understood, i could pass on a shot, that was unsure, i became a hunter with a perfect record, not an expert... JP.

People like that are what he's looking for. Don't want any celebrities or wannabe celebrities. Someone who knows thier craft inside and out and can help others.

This is not about producing another show for wild tv.

I could probably qualify for a couple species except for the video part, the teaching part, the computer skills part and the journalistic part............on second thought ignore this !!!!;);)

I'm interested to see where this goes, as anything that promotes our sport and a proper understanding of it is a very good thing. It would be nice to have a good resource to point new folks to, and if this becomes what it sounds like he's trying to build, that will be it. It will be a challenge to find true experts in their field willing to invest that much time without an angle, ie. reasonable compensation or more likely an opportunity to advertise their outfitting business and skills. The true expert with a focus in a single field willing to invest the time for the good of the sport for no personal gain is probably quite rare, and very admirable. I will watch the progress with interest.

I suspect hoyt would do very well on bear, and bearkilr for the same, if they could be talked into it. Why not? could certainly help too.

There is an additional wrinkle in the expert bit: you need to consider what and where.

My father is a very serious, very experienced and exceptionally methodical moose hunter in ON who made a living making sure his clients never went home empty handed. That said, the idea of moose at 4000' on a mountain messes with his mind and I'm not sure he would shine the same here in the west.

That actually might be a tv series of its own.... take whitetail hunters from AB and NS and make them swap provinces. :)
