How many of our posters own and use caliber conversion kits with their pistols? Many rave about being able to shoot 44 Specials in a 44 Magnum or 38 Specials in a 357 Magnum. You have the same advantage with semiautomatic pistol conversion units. The following are those that I own and use:

1. FIE TZ75 TZ 9mm Barrel and EEA 40 S&W Barrel and slide
2. Glock 23 (G23) Bar-Sto Barrel 9mm, Bar-Sto Barrel 40 S&W, and Glock 40 S&W Barrel
3. Glock 27 (G27) Bar-Sto Barrel 9mm, Glock 40 S&W Barrel, and 357 Sig Barrel
4. CZ75B factory 9mm barrel and 22 LR Kadet Conversion Unit
5. Glock 21 (G21) Glock 45acp Barrel and KKM 10mm Barrel

The first unit I purchased was the EEA 40 S&W Barrel and slide. It took minor machining to get the safety to operate correctly and I had to purchase 40 S&W magazines. This unit has worked well for years

The second unit was a Bar-Sto 40 S&W that works with my Glock 23. I do not trust reloads in Glock and by purchasing a Bar-Sto I am able to shoot both lead and reloads. This barrel gave me confidence in Irv Stone’s Bar-Sto barrels.

I next ordered a Ptarmigan (?) 357 Sig Barrel from CDNN for my Glock 27 and it works well. I then decided that it was time to order a Bar-Sto 9mm barrel for my Glock 27. Why did I want this? The answer is Stephen A. Camp was so happy with his Glock 26 I wanted to try a 9mm. The barrel arrived and the fit and finish was all that Irv Stone is noted for but it was meant to fit a Glock 23. I struck a deal with Irv, I received a 9mm for the G27, and I kept the 9mm G23 barrel all at a cost I could afford.

My experience with Glock 40 pistols and 9mm barrels has been the use of 9mm magazines makes them completely reliable. Before buying 9mm magazines, both my G23 and G27 stuttered while using 40 mm magazines. I have heard the opposite from others in that every thing fed and fired using 40 S&W magazines.

I have owned a CZ75 for years but when I saw a chance to buy a CZ75B for $249.00, I jumped on it. I honestly see very little that is better on a CZ75 than the CZ75B. I then saw an add for a 22 LR Kadet Conversion Unit and I bought it. This kit cost me $210.00 and that included a spare magazine. Again, the unit required minor fitting and this unit lives on the CZ75B. How good is this 22 LR Kadet Conversion Unit? This is the 22 handgun I shoot the most.

The last conversion I purchased was KKM 10mm Barrel for my Glock 21 45acp and it is great. I posted and received advice, which was to buy a 21-pound recoil spring and two Glock 20 magazines. This is, to me, is a great weapon made even better with the KKM 10mm Barrel.

These are my experiences with conversion units and barrels for handguns I own. I hope that you will share your expeiences and opinions.

Richard :D

I have a Colt Delta Elite (10 mm) and a few years ago I purchased two Ed Brown barrells from Brownells for it. One is in .40 S&W, the other is in .357 SiG. I particularly like shooting it with the .357 SiG barrel installed.

I too have a CZ 75 and a Kadet .22 conversion kit for it. I'd like to get a Ceiner .22 conversion kit for my Glocks....

I shoot .38 Spl's in my .357's all the time. Wouldn't mind change out barrels in .40 S&W and .357 Sig for my Colt Delta 10mm. The only 'real' conversion unit that I currently have is a Colt .22 Conversion Unit that I use with a USGI 1911 frame. Goes to the range with me nearly every trip. 8)

Unfortunately it is now more difficult to get the necessary barrels into Canada, as import/export papers are needed and for many US companies it's not worth the hassle.

A buddy of mine told me to just order your barrels send them to a US address and while waiting for delivery send away for your Canadian Import permit for said barrels/parts.

When you have your permit go pick up your barrel come up too our wonderful Canadian border present your Import permit, pay your duties and take your barrel/parts home. Our border doesn't require to see a US export permit because that is US law/concerns not theirs.

I haven't tried it yet but will do so as soon as I have time/money. I'd like a KKM barrel in 40S&W and a Advantage Arms 22LR conversion kit for my G20 10mm.

Then you would be breaking US law, and subject to their penalties if caught.

A simple barrel change in a 1911 converts it from 45acp to the above cartridge the 400 CorBon...which is basically a 45acp casing necked down to 40calibre. No different mags to have to buy, the 400 CorBon fits and feeds in standard 1911 mags and tends to feed better than the 45 because of its necked shape.

Read the bottom of the package...165gr...1300fps...619ft/lbs

That is 619ft/lbs out of a 1911  I would love to pull a 180gr EFMJ from a 40S&W and then load it into a 400 CorBon to see if I can be the first to make an EFMJ go frangible. Just imagine the damage to offending pumpkins and watermelons that happened to get in the way
