Wow, another enlightening Dosing poll that I somehow missed earlier.

But after Dosing's behaviour at the last gunshow, trying to talk anyone who would listen into buying the most spectacularly over priced crap I've ever seen at a show, I thought it might be worth resurrecting.

I usually start with "It depends..." Because, usually (especially concerning firearms) it does.

"The best" might be outside their price range.
"The best" may be meaningless if quality and workmanship are irrelevant to them.
"The best" may depend on you being a handloader or something similar.
etc, etc...

So I try to define their criteria, make sure it generally makes sense, and then provide an answer in that context.

Then, of course, I tell them what ***I*** would buy or do, and why they should do it my way whether it is "the best" or not...

I try to be as neutral as possible and ask what their needs in a rifle are, then make suggestions that I think might suit them best. They usually say thanks but they don't like this or that and this one looks cool, I was really wanting one of those. So I tell them to get the one thats calling their name cause thats what they obviously want wether it's practical or not. I don't want the blame for a purchase that they are not happy with, most who ask those questions go for fashionable appearance, function is secondary, and are happy even if it isn't practical for the use they asked about. Ignorance is bliss.

So this is one of these : do you know what I mean, when I say what I mean, when I say what I mean, when I say It???

Trolling trolling trolling ,keep those doggies rolling trollhide!!!

Hell bent for leather we're shareing the weather ,Trollhide!!!!

Bob

I simply tell whomever it may concern what I use or wouldn't use and give them as much information as I can about other choices that are " POPULAR" and may "NOT" be necessarily " THE BEST" choice for them. On the other hand if I've offered good advice by the standards of the status quo and they go ahead and make a dumb choice, I will not be shy about letting them know my opinion of said choice, which would sound something like "YOU IDIOT"!
