Area 419 announced the release of their new ZERO M-Series Sizing Die.

Features include:
  • Micrometer Adjustable Headspace/Shoulder Bump
  • Precision Ground Expander Mandrels
  • Full-Length Neck to Extractor Sizing
  • Spring Ejection for Spent Primers
  • Reamer Cut to Exacting Dimensions for a TRUE Size

MSRP is $500 USD with the caveat you must use Area 419 shell holders on account of this being a 1-1/4″ die body (to achieve proper shell holder die contact).

The sleeves will be interchangeable, so it sounds like you wont need a new die body every time.

pretty soon, we will need to only load $4 bullets in $10 cases and load with $100/lb powder lit with 50cent primers

Oh crap... we do that now... never mind :)

Friend of mine is serious about PRC and the amount he spends on equipment is staggering. His results are excellent but good gawd it costs a lot.

Thankfully I have a good supply of powder, primers and cases.

so, take a very simple and well understood process, overly complicate the tools, charge the moon for it... and voila, a better camel.

Processing brass doesn't need to be complicated.

I believe in a very simple statement... if something can fail, it will... and the more intersections of process you add, the failure rate grows exponentially.

YMMV

I could not agree more, Jerry!! I worked as an automotive repair tech for years, then taught apprentices at
a Community College for 32 years. The more complex a unit is, the more likely it is to fail and cause grief.

I love quality tools, but $500.00 for a die set, and an additional $2000.00+ for support tools?? Ridiculous!! Dave.

price aside... does this tech do anything better?

I have purchased many very expensive items that improved my game... paying alot for something that IS better is not the issue.

I just don't see how this die set up resolves many ongoing issues in the sizing world.

but to each their own...

The big marketing point is the ability to dial in headspace with a micrometer.

But too be honest, I've never had difficulty dialing in headspace with any of the dies I own. Would maybe save an extra minute with these Area 419 dies.

nor have the thousands of precision reloaders all around the world.

And for something this innovative, I smile that friction and murphy are allowed to meet up.

just one of the many quirks that I am sure users will discover in time.

Seems like a smart phone for the reloading world.
