Hey,

Just picked up this all matching Argentine Colt Systema 1911. Looks to be unissued or VERY lightly used from what I can tell. There is barely any blueing wear on the slide and frame rails, no cartridge wear on the magazine follower and only some light scratches and perhaps holster wear on the muzzle end of the slide.

Can't wait to try her out!

Enjoy,

Ian

Nice looking M 1927.

See if you can source some correct grips for 'er. Black [not brown] checkered plastic similar to the Keyes type grips found on GI 1911A1's of the WWII period [ie. no diamonds at the screw holes].

Also, make sure you keep an eye on the barrel chamber. Seen more than one of these pistols fail in the bottom area of the chamber. Check the underlugs that hold the link after shooting it to monitor for any cracking there as an indicator there is an issue.

Looks like it was reblued at some point. The 1927 I had the s/n in the white...grips look wrong as well.

I have considered that as well because of the minty blueing on the interior parts, mag, rails etc... From the wear on the outside it looks like it may have been done a very long time ago. The bore looks mint and to me has never been fired since the re-blue (if it was) as the inside looks to be blued as well with no signs of being fired. Does that make sense? Did they reblue the whole barrel inside and out leaving the chamber end in the white? I agree that the grips are replacements as they are not the same as any of the others I have seen. I will have to keep my eye open for some real ones.

Thanks for the info. I will keep an eye on it. I won't be firing this very often at all. If I feel the need to really get my .45 on, I will by a Norc or get a new replacement barrel to preserve the original.

Ok, I picked up some wolf 230 gr. lead round nose. I wanted to keep the loads light for her. Do you think these are ok? Are there other loadings out there that would also be on the milder side that I can shoot to keep the wear down to a minimum?

Cheers,

Ian

Unissued or lightly used? Huh? What?
Blueing is pretty much worn on the slide. Plus, not only does this gun have the "idiot" scratch on the frame where the slide stop goes in, the slide has a worse "idiot" scratch on the slide. Don't want to burst your bubble, but this Colt knock-off looks more like a "beater." Might turn into a decent "shooter" but that's about it. Just my opinion....

I agree that the "idiot" mark is very annoying, but the pictures don't do it justice as it was taken in full sunlight and every single little mark showed up way more than when you are looking at it in person. I say lightly used as there is evidence of scratches and light wear on the slide, but the friction points where there would be wear are still strongly blued on the slide and frame, the magazine follower has no evidence of a cartridge mark, and the blueing "in" the barrel looks almost perfect. This would suggest to me that it was carried around in a holster, but never fired or fired very little. Either way, it is in pretty good shape for 1947 production I think.

Perhaps you should study the history of these guns before being quite so critical in your opinion

The Systema pistols are very popular right now. The one you got looks to be in pretty darned good condition, actually (a lot of them aren't), and its value is going to continue to rise without any doubt. Good score, IMHO. Enjoy!
