Hello everyone
I’ve got a schwack load of milspec 5.56 and 7.62 NATO brass that I’m reloading. I’m having a bugger of a time with wasted primers because of the primer pocket crimp on this brass.

What is the best way to remove this crimp? I’ve been lightly touching up the primer pockets using my chamfering tool but I'm having limited success. Any suggestions?
 
Any chmafer tool will remove the crimp. it doesn't take much.

Put the chamfer tool in your cordless drill and clamp it to your table, run it slow and just give a light push on the brass to remove the crimp.
 
I use the RCBS primer pocket swager. it has always worked perfectly for me and it is only one extra step when reloading. I usually set up to do the entire lot at once then it is done.
 
I used a 3/16 dia. ball shaped carbide burr, supposed to be used on a die grinder, to do mine.

I turned it with my metal lathe, but a drill press or a drill clamped to the bench would work well.

Lots of ways to skin that cat, but it's gotta be done.

I've used the burr in the drill method but find that it doean't take long for the hand gripping the brass to get tired. Plus, I find you have to take care to do a thorough job of it or the pocket will still be tight. Dillon Super Swage tho'; fast, easy, perfect every time and you'll never regret it.

I was using that before the Super Swage. It's a great peice of equipment but a total pain in the neck if you have a lot of brass to process.
