Recently had a chance to scope out the Argos 3 and am quite impressed, might rank it above the Midas Tac for image quality
Having never looked at the older 1's or 2's am wondering if the update changes are in the mechanics or has the glass changed also?
There appear to be several gen 2's on the market and if they compare optically they may be a bargain choice

I have 2X of the Gen-2 Argos 8-34x56 scopes. My biggest critique is the 'tight' eye-box, in that it makes me tense trying to keep 'in the box' while verifying parallax. I put a large wheel on the parallax turret for more precise adjustment, but moving my eye/head to verify is difficult with the tight box. I still bought a second one in spite of that. Before them, I used 6-24 x 50 Covenants and thought that was great. I sometimes wish I had More mag than the Argos, but the Price is beyond my comfort zone.
I haven't tried a Midas for comparison, very few members of my club have 'high aspirations of accuracy' and I don't believe there is one in town.(small town) I just dally myself. Still working on 'under 1" at 100 with medium grade ammo like SK-RM. Today with a 5-10k breeze I got a couple groups there, but several more 'out'. HA !

Also looked a maybe getting the 34x but then wonder how it would stack up against the DNT The One, w/ similar pricing
but then realized I didn't like the look of the monsterous 34mmm tube and 56 mm bell, so stayed with 30&50, 24x works good enuff to 500 imo

If you can, get the newest generation of anything Athlon vs the same older model.

From what I have seen and used, Athlon is incorporating updated HD glass and guts into any new gen scope.... so a 'cheaper' new gen scope, could outperform a more expensive but much older design. It is a weird quirk of branding but it makes for some awesome performing dirt cheap scopes.

And WAY TOO MANY scopes in their many levels.

the very reason for this post
Argos BTR Gen III is comparable specs to the DNT, but slightly cheaper cost
so wondering how it stacks up in comparison
Other higher-level Athlon might be good too but lack the 35X power
