I don't disagree that you should stand up for yourself if you are in the the right, but do you need to be a d!ck and immediately confrontational about the situation? And Outcast, I hope you treated everyone with the same leniency when they told you to fu@k off because you made a simple mistake in your years of policing.
Knowing your job and the basic elements of an offence and your authority to search and seize is the absolute basics in law enforcement. I would like to think knowing what game limits for a particular region are in effect should be known. They are basing their decisions on the same synopsis every other person has to read and re-read to be in compliance, not to mention having lawyers at their disposal for clarification on all kinds of issues. Ones tact may very well set the tone for the encounter, but come on, it's his fricken job to know this sh!t. I'm so tired of guys doing stuff when they have little understanding of their authority to act. From day one until present if I don't have grounds to act, I don't. Some times you win, some times you lose. Newbies have a real difficult time grasping that concept. The whole us vs. Them attitude in law enforcement is seriously starting to get old. Not everyone is riding dirty.
