Aridus Vs Velcro Side Saddles?

Reading words

Yeah I read that. But what they sent me literally wouldn’t bond enough initially to stay on the side of the gun if I turned it on it’s side. Gravity would pull it off. If that’s the way it’s supposed to work, fine. But instructions to that effect in the package would have been useful.

I’ve had one Velcro strip fail to adhere, I had degreased the side of the receiver of an 870 express but it peeled off the first time I removed a card. I degreased a second time and it’s been on there ever since, 3-4yrs of on and off.

Certain degreasers can leave a residue/film as well that makes adhesives not bond properly, atleast in my experience.

I use 99% rubbing alcohol for such things, get perfect adhesion. But if you can do use industrial grade velcro, as sold in lengths at Home Depot for instance. Cut a piece and round off the corners and you've got a pro mount.

I find that it also helps to warm the metal up a bit, I use a heat gun which also helps to dissipate any residue left from degreasing. I have a strip on an 870 Express from the early 90's that's been there for at least 6 or 7 years and shows no sign of coming loose any time soon...

Ive always been a hard side saddle type. I was just curious if the velcro would screw with cerokote type firearms.
Any gun that I'd want a side saddle for has one already. I was just intrigued by the velcro. I've seen a few videos where they always fall off under recoil so I've been suspicious how they hold up over time

Have 3 shotguns with Velcro on them, all are on for between 4-6 years and are going strong. I hunt with all of them, prep the area well and it won’t come off easily.
