Yours is a 7th series from the Toriimatsu factory of Nagoya Arsenal. Originally this would have had the two screw type front barrel band . You would have also originally had the 4-7/8" cleaning rod. Rear barrel band would have been a plain solid band. Rear sight would have originally been the type with the wings removed (not put on there), but still being long or the shorter sight again without wings. The stock would have had the full length handguard. Bolt handle would have been the cylindrical type (the type currently on the rifle). Safety is correct on this rifle, however it looks like the chunk out of it was done by bubba as I have never seen a grooved one missing a chunk like that (always willing to be corrected, just have never seen one like that, and my source materials don't have one like that). This information was taken out of the book Military Rifles of Japan, 5th edition in case anyone was interested.
Hope this helps. I did a restoration on a type 99 once, however I wouldn't do it again due to cost.
