Hello,

I am wondering where one could obtain a reproduction or original bolt cover for a Type 38 Arisaka Carbine. I am beginning to collect these carbines, and am finding this piece particularly hard to find! No doubt many are rotting in some Pacific Theater jungle, thrown away by the soldiers. My uncle gave me one but it will not fit, and it has no serial number on it. My guess is it is a Type 99 or Type 30 cover.

I am interested in picking one up if someone has one for sale as well.

Secondly, how much are Type 30 Bayonets going for currently in "good" to "fair" condition? Who has one?

I am looking for a Koshikawa or Kokura Tokyo arsenal made one.

Cheers,
Drachenblut

Numrich Gun Parts has lots of original/repro parts available on their website. Type 30 bayonets vary in price, I picked up a decent Kokura with no scabbard for $75 at a local gunshow, and then I saw a similar one complete with scabbard and frog for $95 at the 3 day Chilliwack gunshow last month. OUCH!!!!

You can try your luck over at the Gunboards WTB/WTS section as these types of equipment are pretty common in the U.S. You also won't have to pay the $25 "I am Canadian" tax that numrich tacks on.

You learn something new every day! I always thought that there were just the 2 types of Arisaka bolt-covers: the ones that rattled an the ones that already got thrown away!

Lots of sources for Arisaka parts in the Excited States but they all seem to be treating us just a bit worse than if we were The Enemy. Good point is that if their economy collapses much farther, they are gonna HAVE to do business with us, just to get back some of the bucks they are spending on ALL that Canadian oil they are importing.
